looks like it needs a bit of weight on the rear, I'm totally new on the baja rey but ordered one which hopefully arrives this week. Great job on the body shell!

Hi Jorge, Yup this truck is definitely nose heavy. I added metal upper links and an a aluminum spare tire. This should help hopefully. My next race is on Wednesday I’ll see how it does. Great choice on getting the Baja. It’s been a great very though truck. It takes a lot of beating. One thing I recommend is playing with the spring tension of the shocks. The truck stock tempts to flip easy on turns. Don’t get discouraged, it’s all about tuning it to avoid flipping to often. Once tuned right this trucks is a beast on the track. I found switching to 40 weight oil on the rear shocks and 27.5 weight on the front works best. This improved the handling a lot specially on high jumps and rollovers . Cheers.

@@RCincorporated yeah flipping is a concern, a friend sold his baja not knowing how to fix that. I've asked in some forums and some people suggest proline xt shocks + udr front shocks for dual rear shock setup, and also extra rear weight, but I still see some differences regarding diff oil setup. I'd like to run against short course trucks despite different geometry. Some other people suggested trying to reach 10-12pounds of weight for it to perform better. Let's see what it takes! I found a "roller chassis" from some ebay guy which does not include tires, wheels, electronics, which is perfect for me as stock tires are really bad and I try to stay consistent in electronic brands.

@@P0110X That’s awesome you got a roller to start with. I been using the Baja for the past 10+ years. This is actually my 3rd one since I sold previous ones in the past. Proline shocks are nice there big and beefier than the stock ones. Here is the catch, I never used them because too many people say they don’t perform well on the Baja and there expensive. The issue is to big of a shock prevents the truck from actually absorbing the hits and instead just bounces too much. The truck itself is too light for such huge shocks. Also I tried dual rear shocks from the UDR and it performed horrible. The dual shocks in the rear or using the big proline shocks will have the same effect, it’s just to stiff even when using the lowest shock oil there is. Adding weight will definitely help to use bigger shocks, but the more weight the more the motor has to carry. This usually ends up killing your battery faster. For me after trying numerous shocks, a number different oils I found keeping the stock shocks in the rear but with 40 weight oil was the best tuning for it. I’ll smoke stadium trucks with this beast, 😂 but just takes practice driving it. The front shocks however I noticed since it takes the first hit going up a ramp, using the traxxas big bore shocks with 17.5 oil weight was the best. What you want is a faster shock rebound in the front than in the back on this truck. Also depending on the type of ramp it is but for most that are set up to send you to the moon never hit a ramp at full speed with this truck it just won’t jump well. The trick is right before you’re about to go up the ramp punch the throttle and you will always get a nice flat landing. Diff oils. Here is what I did after researching many forums. Get at least 50,000 mil diff oil for the rear diff. 30,000 mil for the center diff and 10,000 mil for the front. This set up allows the truck to really put all the power to the rear tires as well as 90% of the power to the front wheels. A stock baja comes with very light diff oil which works very well out the box. But this trick with diff oils just makes it more aggressive. You will almost pop a wheelie with a 4WD now that’s bad ass. Hope this helps, it’s literally the best RC in my opinion. They say it’s not a basher nor a race car, but I’ve think I broke those rule a longtime ago. 😎 Cheers bro
