Hillary, you should comment that Varuna is for sale and put a link to sale info in the description for all of these remaining Varuna videos.

My grandparents retired to Big Pine Key FL, and one of their friends had literally hundreds of glass floats of all sizes that he had found. This was back in the 60's and 70's. I was told most of them came from the Portuguese, who used them for their traps.

Grew up on the west coast, Vancouver Island and the glass floats we found were always said to come from the Japanese fishing fleets ... I guess different oceans different origins .... quite the find if one finds one these days ..... have an awesome week .....

Hi guys, been watching Adventure Adrift for some time now...love your videos! I have a practical question I'm hopping you can help me with. I own a 1983 Pearson 422 and I noticed in one of your videos it looked as if you have the same Bomar opening port lights as I have on Thunder. Mine are in need of new gaskets, I've been unable to find a suitable replacement. Have you ever replaced any of your port light gaskets, and if so where in the world did you find them. I would be grateful for any help at all. Thanks! Mark and Jeanne

T.J. Penton look back maybe 2 years. When they were sailing down the California coast. There should be a video or two (maybe in san diego) where they are making a stainless arch, installing the panels, and getting two new batteries.

LG panels. I think 330W x 2. MPPT charge controller, can't remember 1 or 2? I think 4x6V batteries in 12V bank.

What's the trade-offs of leaving the crabs and barnacles to live out their lives? Personally, an orange float in the middle of the ocean doesn't bother me. I think it's at least as interesting as the vella vella. I bet that the flag and pole would be gone in a few months. I really enjoyed the episode with all its mellow routine vibe.

General newbie question: Hopefully nothing bad ever happens to you guys but if there’s an emergency who even comes to your rescue when you’re in the middle of the Pacific Ocean or International Waters. Even with AIS or EPIRBs - does America send out helicopters, does Hawaii? Again- ships typically aren’t fast & could take days or weeks to reach you etc. Thinking a emergency Dingy is ok but once you load it with enough drinkable water & edible food to last a person 1,2,3 days or a weeks times might not be big enough. Again, that’s praying the weather remains calm. Just curious- brand new to sailing.

@@martyhandley4456 I can really only guess at the Adrift adventurers process.....first is the logic of what do we want and need in the cruising future?...then the search and buy...then the emotional counter reaction....final resolution....love or logic? ( the simplistic explanation to life)(and boat ownership)
