Starting to think the best use of caves might be (not forced but incidental) mono-color decks. For example, a (mostly) mono-red deck would like the caves for calamitous cave-in, and wouldn't be hurt too badly by having a bunch of colorless utility lands.

I got first place on both my prereleases with WB sacrifice. It was really strong being both aggressive with a low curve and having good carddraw and recursion, thanks to a couple of key black cards. I even managed to beat red aggro after falling to 2 Life by Lifelinking back up to 18. It was a pretty insane deck, with some very good overlapping synergies.

great take on the format. i do think green is kinda like white/blue from the last set. not the best color for sure but if the color is open because of it being less strong than other colors you can end up with a fairly strong draft deck.

Really awesome work you do here, Alex! Went W-W-L-L-W-W-W-W-W for a solid 7-2 in my first LCI draft. Using only your Draft Guide as a primer, I actively went for UR and it was a blast! I literally had to read every single card. That's how blind I was going in. 🙂

I don’t think this is an aggro format at all. We had the longest prerelease games ever where draws before game 3 happened a lot.

If 7/8 explore cards is enough for the UG buildaround I wonder if you can’t just get there if you p1p1 it and build around it between all the common explore cards and especially map token makers. Also, do discover cards really work well together if you chain them? If you hit your etali’s favor your not really getting a 3 drop, and given you have a limited number of 3 drops in each deck you will with a bunch of etali’s favor guarantee you will practically always hit a 2 drop right?

Love your content Alex, always great thoughts and communication. One comment I have is that when you're referring to another video, I would prefer a still image from that video or maybe even just a link in description (e.g intro referring back to the set review). I found the double panel of both 'current' Alex and set review alex talking a bit distracting. On a MTG standpoint, you say your opponent can't blow you out with craft which I understand from rules perspective, but all the transformed craft cards are still susceptible to artifact removal, correct? So you could easily pay 6 or 7 mana to transform into a big beater that gets blown up by abrade at the next priority pass. I think picking the right moment to activate is still going to be important to not get wrecked on tempo for the ones that don't have immediate impact like the yummy, yummy bricks.

@@limitedlevel-upsI think it's because you said something about how you should run 18-23 permanents in a descend deck or something, but obviously you were talking about nonland cards
@10freekie2

Nicely spotted. 20 nonland permanents he meant I believe, which thus gives you room for only a handful of spells.
