An amazing story. I know parents want to see their children succeed in life but having a practical survival skills maybe one of the most important lessons that a parent can pass on to a child. Malachi's ability to think through the situation was another critical skill that made the difference. I pray that Malachi continues to survive and thrive.

Love the fact the child made it and kept his focus! You should combine the survival/tragedy stories with some lessons on how to survive and how to avoid tragedy. You need to come out here to the southern Appalachians and see how we do it in the humidity! And yes, it is even humid in winter! The cold here can make the molecules in your bones shiver! Great channel, great stories, and we would enjoy hiking with you in summer when most people would lay in a bed surrounded by ice bags and the air conditioner turned to arctic! Or in winter when your Aunty would scold you for not burying yourself under a hill of quilts. Thanks for your great stories!

Chris, What a great, great story; thanks so much for that, sir! I don't know about anyone else, but with all the "BS" to instill fear in the public these days, i'm all about hearing a story that ends well, and moreover, one that has some uplifting inspirational aspects/components to it. And there are lessons for learning/growth here that go beyond simply sinister warnings that amount to "stay in one's own backyard" as the final summary in what one may take away from the disaster; how about that!?! Bingo! And a star to you, Chris, because you found one of the great morals to this given story: don't let fear consume you, but instead stay calm & poised while using your intelligence/mind to think through a situation. We are not helpless and doomed if we get lost in a strange place or somewhere where we're unfamiliar with the terrain. We still have our God-given mind! We have the ability to think. In doing so, one can overcome a lot!! Fear is debilitating and reduces our problem-solving ability to nil!!! People, including myself, need reminding of this truth to the point where the reminder is actually bordering on inspirational! Now, I confess, i'm a new subscriber, and as you carry yourself as a very positive person, Chris, I have to imagine that you already have more stories similar (at least in principal) to the one i'm discussing, uploaded & waiting for myself and others to find in your channel's "subscriber's library" - if you will - on KZitem, that are available to watch at will, so I'll say please keep up the good work. I like a scary story or two, like most anyone else, and i'll be sure to check them out, too. Yet I think we need to hear about more adventures with (a) challenge(s) that is/are overcome and end(s) well. Those kind of stories give us all hope! And I think you're the perfect guy to bring us those kind of stories, for I and many others, I feel, are drawn to your channel due to your talent in highlighting and accentuating what's positive and bright in the world! Onward and upward, my friend!!

I live in Utah, I remember this story. Well not all of it. Yeah Malachi. What a great “ fill in the blanks”. I always wonder his true story. Heroic young man. Nice story! Ashley national Forestry, huge, and is filled with wildlife and extremely dangerous conditions. Even for a prepared outdoor Professional. I spent many years in those mountains. Camping and fishing myself. I too, got far away from camp. Luckily, I did return. Late and in big trouble. My parents were worried. My brother and I wondered off. Into the wilderness, Maybe 8 or 9 yrs old. God blessed him (Malachi ) And thank you God, andfor hearing my prayers, and returning us , as well. 🙏🌏❤️👏🌻😁👏 Big and beautiful, can be deadly if not careful. Great ending ! Granite boulders most likely. Utah has beautiful topography too. Thanks
