I get choked up every time he smiles at 1:53, because that is the first time we've seen the REAL Locke since he was murdered by Ben. And he can't even stop himself from smiling at the one who argued with him and doubted him the most. I always felt, as much as Jack hated Locke sometimes, Locke just wanted him to listen and believe. He wanted that more than anything. And Jack becoming the man of faith after Locke's death... just wow. What an incredible show.

Isnt that how humanity kinda is? We make all our lifes harder, hate these, hate them, hate him, hate her - but in the end everyone was kinda a part of our journey and bad memories fade away or we still dont like them but see them as flawed humans too... saw someone i couldnt stand once and we talked almost 20 years later randomly somewhere we would not expect to see a familiar face, far from where we were... and it was nice. we didnt exchanged numbers or told we miss each other - we talked about life, where we are, what have been... and parted.

You can see how fond of Jack Locke actually is here. When he remembers, he is amused by Jack's resistance and stubbornness just like when both of them were alive and interacting. Jack didn't look at John eye to eye because in many ways, John reminded him of his father. My all time fav series.

Well said. I agree about how great this series was. While I wouldn’t necessarily say its the best TV show ever(there’s a lot of competition for that), I will say IMO it tells the best ever story on TV. The way it mixes science fiction, groundbreaking storytelling devices (ambiguous flash forward/backward/sideways) compelling narratives, creative storytelling, and spiritual themes (both virtuous and evil) is unmatched. The fact they were able to pull it off so well on network TV is remarkable. There will never be another show like this on network TV because now shows that do this sort of thing go right to streaming outlets.

Jack hated Locke in the end. He even shot him intentionally but the gun was empty. This scene makes Locke look like a good guy when in fact the last part of the show before the MIB takes his body, John is a prick and takes prisoners and kills a woman for no reason. If Jack had remembered in that scene he would have smothered Locke with a pillow. lol

The callback to the season two premiere Man of Science, Man of Faith when Jack "fixed" Sarah was the perfect choice for this scene. That was the episode the truly pitted Jack against Locke philosophically , even though Jack was both the man of science and faith in that episode. Jack having earlier in the episode said this to Flocke makes this scene even better: "You’re not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face, but you’re nothing like him. Turns out he was right about most everything. I just wish I could’ve told him that while he was still alive."
