There's another clip where Gary Payton goes into detail on why Stockton was harder to guard than Jordan. He said scorers are easy to guard because they take plays off. Srockton wouldn't. He had to guard him 94 feet. And when a guy shoots 10 times and makes 8, then shoots 10 free throws and makes 9, then gets 15 assists, 5 rebs and 5 steals, then is constantly moving without the ball setting picks and running around the whole court never taking a play off. That makes him harder to guard than a scorer.

You can't hate on Artest for saying Roy was harder to guard than LeBron or Kobe. Some people can match up better on defense than other players with less notoriety. A lot of people never heard of Mitch Richmond or Kendall Gill. But I've seen Jordan on TV in the 90's saying he couldn't guard them. Different strokes for different folks.

What Garry Payton actually said and meant to say, is that he had more trouble dealing with Stockton than with Jordan, not physically, but mentally, because GP put a lot of his defense game into mind games, Jordan would bark back at what GP would say, and he (MJ) might be the bigger dog evrry night, but John totally ignored GP's tactics, so he couldn't affect his mindset, therefore, he wasn't able to guard him as effectively.
