Desmond was probably drunk that night down inside the hatch fast asleep thinking, “Stop banging on the door! I’m trying to sleep, brother! I’ve got to wake up in 90minutes to push the button!!”

Lost 99.99% of the time ended in a cliffhanger i hated and loved the show for that. And 99.99999% of time the next episode never picked where it left off, damn i remember those sleepless night chasing that mystery. Only if LOST tied all the loose ends, it would have been the greatest fucking show ever!!!
@BlueShift815

You say that as if they never explained what the hatch was? The whole rest of the season and the next season was about opening and then exploring the multiple hatches, with the third season exploring their purpose. It's more like 99% of the cliffhangers were explained, some people just got caught up in the ones that weren't that important

Actually the explaining killed the show. There was no reason to travel back in time to show the origin of the island. Some things should be left a secret.

Totally different show that engaged in maddening non-sequitur narration is "The Affair" on showtime. My GF watched it and made me watch it with her. S1 was great, except they kept denying the audience the full confrontation between the principal characters. They just kept jumping past the intended culmination/climax that they built up to. I gave up and told her I'm done with this when the show persisted at doing this in S2. I sat with her a few times when she watched S3, and that's when she began agreeing that the audience is cheated of seeing the real interplay and instead they try to come off all parsimonious and minimalist. She gave up after S3.
