Jack seeing that his friends escaped the island as the plane flew overhead with his dying breath was a nice touch. One last reminder that he..the devoted doctor, saved lives - which is the only thing that fulfilled him.
@Finer_Gross
Ай бұрын
He didn’t die, he taking a nap before the next plane arrives….and gaslight all the players into being crazy and killing each other off so he can get to the end and fight the man in black…. Like Star Wars - we have it all backwards. Jack was not the good guy. Ever. His doctor cover story is one of those that comes with preconceived ideas of high stress intense pressure and judgement calls with high stakes. A job you get by having a good track record of doing those things with much success…how many times did we actually see Jack do surgery? We saw 2 success stories from something he supposedly did everyday….we saw the tip of the iceberg thru a point of view of someone who is a victim of a plane crash on an island. We saw him do something cool with alocohol and thread…don’t forget save some for him Kate…how did he not know the pen trick? The truth is it’s not lost because of them on an island. Lost. The game was LOST. Knowing the result before we even know why we are doing what we are doing. We are born to die. We LOST.

The specific people that we see Jack reunite with are so important. Christian may have called them all “the most important people in your life”, but even among that group, they were the most crucial to Jack’s life. Locke, the man who always had faith no matter what Jack said - and who Jack realized too late was right all along Desmond, the man Jack died to save Boone, the man Jack couldn’t save Hurley, someone Jack always had faith in even when Hurley didn’t believe in himself, and the one that Jack gave his life’s mission too Sawyer, his constant rival Kate, the love of his life he never thought he deserved, spending this entire episode proving once and for all that she always loved him above all And finally, Christian, his father who never knew how to express his pride in his son finally getting the chance to guide him as a father should All of them showing him that no matter what happened, everything is okay now, everything was always okay, and they’re finally all here together. Sobbed for ten minutes after I saw this the first time.

Just finished watching (probably for the 20th time) and the ending is beautiful. So sad that Ben wasn't ready to move on yet, when Christian explained to Jack and Jack realised that He himself was too dead, and the part when Jack is slowly dying and Vincent kept him company until Jack closed his eyes. (the very same place Jack woke up after the crash) always brings a tear to the eye. Best show ever.
@Hardrive2677

The fact that so many people misunderstood this ending is kind of insane to me. It clearly explains that everything in the show DID happen and that they all died at DIFFERENT parts of their lives. The flash side ways is purgatory for them to all remember who they are and how they died so they could reunite with their soulmates before passing on to the after life. Christian basically exposition dumps all this information right before Jack walks out to see everyone I don’t get how people miss that.
@ooooswain
7 ай бұрын
It's all because the writers basically lied to us at the end of season 5. It was clearly stated that if that bomb goes off they will have never crashed on the island, then the next season starts with them safely flying to Sydney. It's intentionally misleading and kinda cheap writing. They should have left a lot more openess to that flash sideways and people wouldn't have been so confused by the ending. If the audience was still wondering what time that flash sideways takes place in by the time Christian talks to Jack, it would have clicked for a lot more people, but most people were very sure that was the reality where their plane never crashed.

The series finales for Lost and BSG TRS happened at pretty much the same time, IIRC. I noticed that I was depressed for weeks. On Lost, I'm one of no telling how many fans, and for me the ending was perfect. A father getting redemption and recollection with his son, a leader who can finally rest, a man who struggled with confidence and strength for his entire life is finally at peace, lovers reunited,...and a man with a dog. Something that came to me just now is that those who may not like the spiritual aspect may be forgetting that the show was about the characters and what the characters themselves may have believed in. Christian explained it very well, IMO.

I think they addressed this in the cast interview right after the series finale aired. This is Jack's POV so we are seeing his version of the after life. So when he died on the island all the characters look like this and that is why they are there for him. Kate and Sawyer left the island and could of grown old and met new people and their after life might have had a different look. But for Jack this is it and for me it is beautiful, he gets to be with the people who meant most to him and he gets to be with them for eternity. I loved the ending.

I've never seen it confirmed to be Jack's POV only by the writers. We had the flash sideways from other characters POV's through the whole S6 after all. Like Sawyer and Juliet's at the vending machine, Kate and Claire, Faraday, Desmond, etc.

This isn't Jack's point of view. They were all there on the island to find each other because they needed each other. They were then reunited to "move on" after death. Everyone died at different times but were all in a "purgatory" if you will until they were untied again.

The older I get, the more I understand the depth and breath of this scene Wealth is not measured by the size of one's bank account, but by the meaningful connections we make during life

Their will never be another Lost. I feel like even all the cast realized they will never be apart of something so great again too.

Just finished rewatching the series last night after having seen it originally air nearly a decade ago. The experience back then was something else, theorizing with people each episode, but it really is nice when you're able to just watch the next episode. Especially when even each season picks up right where the last one left off without skipping a beat. It's a great continuous experience not many shows have. Although seasons 4-6 don't quite match the quality of 1-3, Lost is still an enjoyable watch overall. Really hoping it fades from my memory sooner rather than later, because I can't wait to watch it again a third time!

I’m very happy to have had the experience of watching the show when it ran on tv. But yeah it’s nice to binge watch now. I had a great time watching it with both of my junior high school aged kids who were watching it for the first time. They begged every night for “just one more episode!”

This episode breaks me in so many scenes. But when Vincent shows up... That is the last straw.
