Friday May 24 2024 at 16.09 and 16.22. The 14.15 Penzance to London (19.24) train which didn't stop and which I showed twice. Then, from the other side, the 15.47 Plymouth to Penzance (17.40) train and the 15.15 Penzance to Plymouth (17.18) train pulled by Launceston and Taunton Castles. Came here in 2016 when the barriers and signalling were ancient, a dog knew when the barriers were about to rise and people thought I was dead. • Lostwithiel Level Cros... . This time the barriers were down for 9 minutes for the two stopping trains which is why so many people were waiting. There was of course plenty of time to raise the barriers before the 2nd train which must have been over 5 miles away when it was decided not to do so. How can Network Rail possibly imagine that this standard of service is good enough? As there are always trains within 5 miles of many London level crossings, if they ran those like this they'd be down all day. There are 4 'Keep Crossing Clear' signs, a yellow box and 2 'No Parking at any time' signs here now. None of them existed last time so NR clearly thought they weren't necessary. It would be interesting to know how NR planning meetings end up making foolish decisions of this sort.
