Its hard to beat the River To Sea S waver …. $18.95 and I’ve fished them side by side with guys throwing $60-$200 glide baits and they perform as good. And they catch fish, no need to ever spend $100+ for a single lure

Is there a need for it no definitely not but if it is something you enjoy and you like to be able to support a small business then do it. I prefer to have most of my glides be able to have a wide slow glide which you don’t get out of mass production baits. But at the same time I do use s-wavers especially when fish are holding super tight to nasty cover and I don’t want to mess up some of the other baits. So I think it’s all in what your doing and what you like. But yes 💯 percent you are right that the s-wavers can generally consistently catch fish!

Last year I told myself I was going to get into glide baits in 2023. Well, that didn't happen so much, lol! I really want to, but for me, it's just really hard to put that jig rod down. I am going to get into it at some point, probably sooner rather than later.

I started fishing glide baits- really just larger baits in general- a couple seasons ago because I got burnt out on fishing mainstream, normal presentations. I wanted a challenge, so I started throwing larger stuff and found out- it's really no different than throwing small stuff. I would hit a whole- I fish rivers- throw the glide bait and pick off any aggressive, active fish wanting to bite- then shift gears to something more finesse to pick off any stragglers who aren't in the mood- it worked great for me. I don't get this idea that you have to lock nothing but a glide bait into your hand for the whole day- I just haven't found that to be the case. Maybe if you want to get really, really good and make it one of your primary techniques with which you pattern fish- then I could see it, but if you just want to catch a few fish on a glide- it's just like anything else- pick it up and throw it and you'll see- it catches everything from dinks to giants.

You made a lot of great points there! When I started to learn it, I threw it mostly the whole day but now it is just another bait on my deck. It can be situational and just another tool to add! - Jimi

Help me to understand why a glide-bait. I have become adroit at casting an 8 inch swim bait on my St. Croix 7'1" MH F rod with a Shimano SLX DC casting reel, 30lb braided line with 8 in of 50# Flouro as a leader (so the pike and muskie don't bite me off). I land the occasional large bass but by an overwhelming margin where i fish the large pike and muskies will pound it. I look for increased tail-water flow below larger dams and cast upstream right into the flow a day or so after the huge release subsides and the water has had a chance to return to 'normal". What would a glide bait do that my swim bait doesn't do. Still trying to learn new tricks. Tnx.

So from my experience I do not know if any anglers that throw the glidebaits below the dams like you explained. A Swimbait will swim fine in the current but the glide bait action may not be as effective. Now I bet somebody somewhere catches them in this situation - Jimi

Great video thank you I have 1 question. Do you throw a glide bait on the same rod reel set up as a swim bait?
@BassFishingDeclassified
9 ай бұрын
This can depend on the situation and the size of the glidebait. The die hard glidebait fisherman will have specific rods. Another good rod can be a extreme deep diving crankbait rod (10xd for example). A heavy rod with a moderate tip is the recommended.
