This particular DC-10-30F was the 442nd DC-10 to be built and was delivered new to FedEx in 1988. In 2011 she was sold to TAB Cargo of Bolivia. She's now the only active DC-10 in their fleet and is used to operate Cargo flights between Santa Cruz, Bolivia to Miami, USA. She's now flying back to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. After this DC10 aircraft, only four more DC-10s were built comprising two DC-10-30F for FedEx , one passenger DC-10-30 for Bangladesh Biman Airlines of Bangladesh and the final and 446th DC-10-30, also a passenger aircraft, was delivered new to Nigeria Airways in early 1989.

Actually this plane is NOT a DC-10... It is actually the successor to the DC-10, known as an MD-11, which actually has an 14 ft longer fuselage, and can be easily identified by its single landing gear located between the two main landing gears... Now to answer your question accurately, it was fitted with two different makes of engines from the manufacturer (General Electric, or Pratt & Whitney)... P&W engines are considerably louder by far, than GE engines... So it depends on the particular airplane you see at the time... Two can take off back to back, and the aircraft equipped with P&W power plants, will be a lot louder than one powered by GE power plants... I hope this was helpful...

There is no definite sound to airplanes. Noise pollution is obvious, and it is very rude of you to be praising these older planes that fly over and cause disturbances to families. Respect the evolution. The turbofan and high bypass engines create less noise, and reduce fuel consumption. It is selfish of you to not believe in preserving our limited resources. It is selfish of you to not think of the animals. Long term exposure to noise can cause excessive stimilation to the nervous system and chronic stress that is harmful to the health of wildlife species and their reproductive fitness.
