We sat right next to him one night at a brackets show, he sat right behind us, I kept seeing people talking to him, we go to leave, and he walks to his car, long walk, we talk brackets, who's hot right now etc.. Couple days later, I see he is louie, and I was bummed, didn't know that guy, was the guy I was in back yard hoop.. I was always louie dampier

One of my first ever college basketball games I saw was Kentucky and Vanderbilt in 1966. Louie scored 20 points in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the game, many on his patented running jump shot off the fast break. From then on, I patterned my game on him.

Not much footage of him playing unfortunately. All time ABA points leader. From what I've seen he was one of the best shooters ever.

My late father said that when the Baron brought his Cats to face Tennessee at old Alumni Gym during WW2, the Vol Letterman's Club that sat right behind the visiting team's bench would chant "I know two Adolphs who are all washed up ... Adolph Hitler and Adolph Rupp"

Terrific player and modest man. Followed him closely during his nine ABA years. Was very pleased he was selected by the Spurs when the merger took place. One small correction: The ball shown at the 16:10 mark is the ball of the current (minor league) ABA as opposed to the real ABA of 1967-1976.

Did they really have no scouting report for Texas Western? That's on the coaching staff.
