Nah the Luan hate is absurd. Luan is a legend and he stopped getting paid from Nike so he looked for another check. That's being an adult lol

Louie is like an anti-Berle. Berle completely transforms every time he changes companies, but Louie essentially always looks like he dresses using target clothes.

Great analysis on all this. Was hoping you'd touch on Nike's disposable sponsorship strategy, too. They've been one of the first brands to aggressively drop skaters as soon as they're not hot commodities. I understand the business model, but it's harsh compared to how most companies let riders stick around in perpetuity, eventually being quietly shifted to the "legends" roster. It's always sad seeing a skater slightly past their prime losing their Nike contract, and it might even accelerate the end of their professional skate careers compared to riding for a more forgiving brand. Maybe with these harsher strategies from the big shoe corps, skate careers are gonna burn brighter and faster.

Luan's skating IRL is unreal. He's very impressive to watch. I feel like this is the first time I've ever heard someone say something bad about him.

Man, I feel for Luan. When I was younger I was a sucker for certain skate brands like Flip, Es', Emerica, Girl, i still am to a degree. So naturally I was a huge supporter of the riders of those brands. I couldn't count on both hands how many of Luans Flip boards I've bought.

in luan's defense : i am brazilian and here people have a diferent mindset, a looot of young skaters dont have money to eat, imagine to buy skate shoes, and Luan was one of this kids, so now that he's become a OG, nothing more fair for him to jump on a company where people are offering more money than on nike, its simple as that, and complementing, luan's skate style continue relevant to this day because he still can impress skaters that are starting now, he skates fast, got pop, do every flatground trick u can imagine, and in a very stylish way, so i think he know his style and went to a better oportunity to make more money to him and his family here in brazil. Not everybody wants to be as cool as max palmer with the bald hair
