This great song was released in 1967. I was in college at the time as a part time student. The Army drafted me and my wife and got married just a few months before I was sent to the Vietnam War. I was a helicopter unit and everytime I witnessed death and heard of bad things about my friends... I sang this song in my mind to help me get thru those 365 day of Hell..!! I'm 73 now, and my days are numbered. My son knows to play this song at my funeral home when I leave this Earth.

This deserves to be the song that plays in the credits when the world ends
@brianlane9534
3 жыл бұрын
It makes me wonder who or what would be in the credits when the world ends. Which reminds of something I said many years ago. Maybe the universe is filled with many gods. And they got together and decided they could each create one planet. Sort of a contest to see which one could come up with the best planet. Then, by process of elimination, the 'best' planet remains alone in the entire universe. Right now, our god seems to be getting his ass kicked. So he'd better come up with a plan to fix things, if it is doable. I think his first step for getting things on track is to figure out a way to make humankind completely oblivious to the thought that a god could actually exist, that we're all just people who happened to evolve here. It does not matter the what/where/how and why we exist, the mere fact that we are here, having evolved and continuing to evolve, should be enough. Once the people of the world come to the realization that we all come from the same god, which is no god, the world will be a much better place. It is a Wonderful World. Live for the world because that is all we have. We don't have 27 different gods promising 27 different things. Unless there are 27 gods in the entire universe. Then the other 26 laugh at our guy when they roll the credits. However, I don't think he's out of it quite yet. But there is a lot of work to do to get back in the running. I'm rooting the guy.

We all change. When you think about it, we’re all different people all through our lives. And that’s okay, that’s good - you’ve got to keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear.

@@monabohamad2242 your line of thinking is exactly the problem with people these days. Louis Armstrong saw real suffering. But he also saw the beauty in the world. This song is a celebration of that beauty. Nobody is celebrating the beauty anymore. Everyone is too much like yourself and focused on all negativity. Problem being, you focus on the negativity too much, and you are guaranteed to increase it. The sever racism of today pales in comparison to what came before. If you think the injustices of today are on a similar scale to that of the past, I would assume you are very ignorant of all history.
