Why is the king of France not driving through France in the center, without numbers, in his unique car, with a flag and coat of arms on the roof, the doors open backwards. And the president of France rides sideways, with plates, in a casually ordinary car. Please don't forget that King Louis XIV was the most charming, artful womanizer ever walked on the Champs-Élysées! He seduced many women throughout Europe using his charms and charisma without revealing his royal status or his wealth.. a true seducer w a great sense of humor, sense of fashion, his charisma level was out of this world, he was very articulate and had excellent verbal dexterity, he had an eye for brilliance and magnificence, he became an elite dancer at age 14 w hundreds of live performances in front of massive audience since he was dancing and performing at the highest level since age 4. When he established the first dance academy in Europe in 1661, he also established the music academy shortly after because of his love for music and arts, he hired and fired the most talented architects in the world to design his palace of Versailles until he got it made exactly with the splendor, opulence and perfection he wanted. He loved women of all sizes, shapes and colors. He loved them not only for sex, but also for their companionship, conversation and point of views on different topics. Overall he was fascinated by female intellect, presence and female energy in every facet of his glorious life. His mistresses often described being constantly infatuated and magnetized by him way before knowing he was the most powerful man/king in Europe. He was THE true French lover in Chief!!👑💌

Louis XIV was known as an absolute stud during his lifetime. The Sun Kings natural hair color was brownish gold, he started to adopt the thick black curls as a wig later on as a fashion statement. According to first hand descriptions, Louis had sensuous lips and these beautiful muscular legs which he was very proud of and loved to show off in tight stockings. No wonder he was so successful with women, not only was he the most powerful absolute monarch in history but a very handsome man.

A fascinating aspect to the portraiture of men in the 17th and the 18th century is how important legs were: you will notice that men adopt basically the same stance, with one leg turned out to show the lines of a calf. You will also notice that they wear heels, because heels help elongate legs and give backsides a little lift (and in Louis XIV's court, a very few favored individuals got to wear heeled shoes with red leather soles--yep, that's where Louboutin got the idea!). Essentially, the Rigaud portrait shows Louis' power through the extravagant framing of his legs, which viewers would have understood as a symbol of the king's virility and potency. Also, the Sun King was famous for having the best legs at Court, so the painting was probably pretty accurate...

He looks so ...well ...French.. in the most beautiful of ways! I do agree with the earlier comment too, Johnny Depp would make a Louis XIV!!

You have an incredible talent- not just for the visual art but, also, for encapsulating the histories of individuals in an informative and enthralling way. I thoroughly enjoy all of your posts. Thank you for what you are doing! I wonder if you have ever considered covering the fascinating lady pirate, Grace O'Malley. My Great-Grandmother used to tell me stories about her when I was young. Nana, however, had a greater talent for embellishment than fact. 😆

Your work is extraordinary! I love history, and this is such a sobering and intimate way to experience their humanity. Would you consider doing a Bible Series? Jesus, Bethsheba, The Queen of Sheba, Solomon, King David, Deborah, The Disciples, Esther, Abraham, Moses and his children, Adam and Eve, The Shulmite Woman, on and on and on - LOL! It would be amazing.

It's when you make them smile it really hits home how real these people were...

Thank you for the recreations. I'm listening to the Illiad right now and the recreation of Helen enhances the experience. Any plans for perhaps Odysseus or Aaneas?

I watch another YT channel that does the storytelling and recreation similar to this. THIS channel, however, does something different (that’s a compliment)!!!! You put a smile on your recreation AND you add the “modern” look. AMAZING work! Thank you.❤❤

Brava Becca! Your young Louis is a charmer. I always suspected there was much more than the crown that was driving those countless women to him 😍Your re-creation also made me wonder if he had any Italian blood (which his portraits never did), and then I recalled his Italian paternal grandmother! The older Louis on a business jet is also 10/10 👍Your skills are amazing.

Thank you so much for this splendid video. Your narration is so clear and your voice so easy on the ears. I own quite a collection of fragrances and I had always wondered why some French ones are so strong. I have done a lot of reading on the subject which led me to develop a soft spot for The Sun King. According to the Perfume Society, His Majesty took the trend for perfumery to new heights, by commissioning his perfumer to create a new scent for each day of the week. My husband bought me a portrait of Louis XIV and it’s now hanging on my wall, beside my perfume shelves 😊
