Got one last week (around 7-7-2021). Costco had them and was selling out. My local CC ran out, then I got fearful and ran to a close CC and bought it. Just seasoned it today (7-11-2021). It was hard as anything to get the lump charcoal started, but I realized you have to have a wick bundle or something like that. YOu just can't do it with a kitchen lighter. Thanks for showing us all of this.

Bought this grill somewhere around 2018 for $500 in store at costco. I've been happy with it and gotten lots of compliments. Original heat deflector cracked in half last year (due to heating/cooling) and was replaced by one I ordered from Louisiana grills. Looks like they upgraded the gasket from felt to woven and added the soft close lid feature with the magnet behind the handle. Need to get a new daisy wheel for it and i'm at a loss. Fixing to purchase a rutland gasket for it.

I just got mine, at first everything was perfect, but during the first cook, for some reason, the magnetic lock was not holding my top part closed. Is there any adjustment needed from my part? I was a little bit puzzled as to why this happened.

I really appreciate you taking the time to post a video like this. You have provided us valuable information. One request however: Consider having someone else hold the camera while you tape or else consider putting the camera on a tripod. Half the time we can't even see what you are referring to. Just a suggestion - not trying to be critical.

The hinge mechanism as well as the metallic-fiber gaskets (attached onto the top & bottom ceramic halves) appear to be cloned parts from the nationally-touted brand of red ceramic cookers. Looks like a good value…

Another thing ... Yes, oh yes -- it was a son-of-a-bitch to unload it and assemble it. I took it apart at Costco and the workers helped me load the parts in. But, my wife and I assembled it at home. But, it sat in the car for about a week, as I tried to find someone to help me get it out (because I'm a little disabled). Well, no one was willing, so wife and I figured out how to do it. Got it assembled Saturday (07-10-2021) and then cured it today, Sun (07-11-2021). So, I plan to cook this week on it. I can't wait to see how my Cooks turn out. I'm coming from a Traeger, which I could never get to go to a high temp. But, I can be assured that this will easily cook at a very high temp and hold it, I think.

last year it was originally priced at $800, reduced to $599 at costco (2021), clearance priced at $399 and a excellent value, IN STORE. this year (nov 2022) it is $999, not available in store, ONLINE only. costco online says its a "special event", available online only thru 12/4/22. for $1K they can keep it. called local store and verified no local costco stores (4) had it in stock. asked associate why its now $1K. she replied that the $999 includes FREE SHIPPING. double the price in only ONE YEAR and offer "free" shipping. ill be on the lookout for a new closeout item or returned item at $399.....or less. however, if comparing it to LOWES at $1400, $1K looks like a great price.

Hoping that price is just because it off season and it will go down when their summer merchandise comes in for 2023. I want to say that summer 2022 they were $699 at the warehouse near me in CA, and went down to $399. Costco is known to just stop selling from a particular supplier all of a sudden, then switch another manufacturer. They do on occasion have the Kamado Joe event raise show.

From what I have seen of the KJ’s, they offer heavier, better quality grill rack system, possibly a better quality top and bottom vent, but I don’t see a huge advantage out of that.
@eastonvonschist2283
2 жыл бұрын
@@JRoss707 I will say that most kamado cookers will cook food as intended. I find the KJ to be a much higher quality cooker than most. I also think you are getting what you pay for in a KJ and all that comes with it. I have never had a problem with customer service replacing parts either. I have used other cookers and most do well at cooking food including weber grills (which I have also). I guess I am just partial because in the years I have had my Joe I have not had one problem with it aside from one of the deflector plates cracking in two and I think that was because of the cold weather I was cooking in at the time. The cooker in this video may very well be a good cooker but it has not been around long enough to determine longevity and quality of parts, customer service etc. Most likely one will get what they pay for in this cooker. All of this of course is just my humble honest opinion.

Yes, Louisiana Kamado sizes their grill as the circumference of the actual ceramic body which is a bit outside the norm of other Kamado manufacturers. I would say however, it’s an in between size from the Kamado joe Classic and big joe, or the BGE and XL BGE. I find it to be a nice in between size, actually.
