I knew ITV was ticking boxes, what Rachel said doesn't surprise me. We were screaming at ITV about black women on the show then all of a sudden we got Rachel. That was the point when I got tired of the season. I was so excited about Rachel and was heartbroken by how her time ended. It all felt like one great big injustice.

Rachel was one of the prettiest girls on that season in my opinion and i said it back then how she didnt seem to have any friends in there. There were so many times that she cried or was clearly upset and nobody ran after her or tried to check on her. Or when that guy kissed someone else literally minutes after upsetting Rachel all the og islanders were celebrating and completely ignored Rachels feelings. It was so weird

Why would they ,they're just white girls who don't really wanna fuck with bw like that, they're not there for that. As much as they edit, her tears were real, she liked Brad he didn't like her and it showed. The fact that she's ok with white men saying they don't find bw attractive only adds to the inferior role that bw have to accept and adopt the role of being seen as undatable by having to tolerate being unattractive. The irony that bm did the same thing by all chosing white women Black women should not go on the show but yet every year, they will still apply.

Murad is 100 percent right. What Rachel went through was sooo different. There has never been a bombshell come in and HAVE to pick between only two men, two men who were in the bottom two. Bombshells always had DAYS to get to know EVERYONE, expplore their options and then make their pick. Rachel was put in an unfair situation and there was NO WAY the guys wouldnt have used her considering the producers forced two men, who were desperate to stay, to fight over one girl and now Rachel is even revealing that the producers KNEW she wasnt their type? That is such a fix!! And not to mention how a new bombshell basically came so quickly after Rachel

You think they would ever create a season where it wasn’t casted fully with people who meet current beauty standards. The show needs diversity with lots of different types of looks not just people who fit the generic good looking box. The show just preys on peoples insecurities about their looks and these insecurities are then targeted by the clothes companies plt bohoo etc to sell their products. As people who are insecure and feel crap about themselves are easier to be marketed towards. Anyways this is never gonna happen as the generic good looking people are what sells. I think people forget aswell, that if you don't have any industry connections they don't care. E.g. Sophie - her sis is Rochelle Humes, part of ITV herself. E.g. Dani Dyer - her Dad is part of Eastenders lol. Both wet as wet wipes but stayed on for long or won.

I honestly feel like ITV purposely tries to embarrass/ emotionally damage black women by putting majority white men on the show and even if they are mixed/black they DONT LIKE BLACK WOMEN. So the whole time they’re forced to feel unwanted. After Ambers season I stopped watching because it was heartbreaking to watch how my girl yewande was treated. They need more POC’s in positions of power in ITV , or I think POC’s should just refuse to go on the show because we should avoid subjecting ourselves to hurt.

The reason they do this is to remain on top. If you paint a marginalized group/s, in a negative light, that feeds into racial stereotypes; you control the narrative; and perception and behaviour of people/society. So basically, if you go onto these shows, they will use you to achieve their agenda. Also the w guys on this show, know this. This agenda is a team sport. They flex their women, becoz they need them to continue, to dominate and remain powerful. Many ppl from the blk community, don't understand this. Whites dominate society, manly due to the partnership, BTW wm ww. Some marry date and have children, wiv other groups. But the majority globally, don't.

The S7 men were shocking! Especially, like Murad was saying, after the diversity in S5, it was so odd - and quickly tiring - seeing basically all the men’s types being blonde hair and blue eyes, time after time. S7 actually really put me off Love Island, especially after the reveal of the Top 4 placements. Then, after the flop that was the reunion and Whitmore being given a PAY RAISE after nationwide complaints… I most likely won’t be watching anymore tbh

What Rachel is saying isn’t even surprising to me at all. If anything, I expected that the producers have all the control over what happens with this show, including the narrative, who stays in and for how long. But it’s refreshing to have the words said out loud and not sugar-coated or coded like most islanders do when they think they’re giving the “tea”.

Good interview. However, Love Island has always been messy, even when it was the celebrity version. They were always orchestrating things to improve ratings. I used to laugh at all the stunts they’d pull to get the cast moving in the direction they wanted. This is nothing new. Tobey was a great character, and I’m glad he stayed until the end but it was obvious that they did whatever if took to keep him on the show. On paper, Lucinda was the type you’d expect to do well, but they put her in difficult predicaments, too. (I wonder if that was partly down to the public reaction, as I don’t think some people warmed to her) If black women go on the show, they should only go on to have fun or play the game. Love: forget about it!

Last year I noticed they didn’t even like any other hair colour even with the white girls like every girl they pushed and gave screen time to were all blonde. Every girl they chucked in was blonde. Like it’s definitely getting worse the only girls the men were attracted to were blonde. It’s like brunette or black hair is bland or unattractive or not the MOST attractive. I really felt that last year and this isn’t even bringing skin colour into it which was even worse
