My 72 Europa handled better than any car I've ever driven. I truly felt one with the machine. And I've owned and driven exotics. It's a pity he picked on the later Europa 'special' model with the 'cut down' rear quarter sails. There was an earlier S2 Europa model there as seen in the video with the original high rear quarter sails. A much better looking car in my opinion. The lower sails resulted from complaints that people couldn't see behind them easily. I drive a large coach that has only side mirrors successfully as well as several closed trucks. So driving my better looking S2 Europa is not difficult for me.

I love Europas! I wish I'd see more of them among the old British cars cruising around in the US, but their lack of great numbers sort of enhances their inherent uniqueness.

12:55. Hate to burst your bubble, but the Europa Specials were 43" high. Even the earlier Europas were taller than 40".

The Daimler SP 250 was originally called a Dart but Dodge already had the name so it had to be changed on the Daimler.

The 4 British cars I'd damn near trade my oldest kid to own (lol): Triumph Stagg, Rover P5B, 1st gen Jag E-Type, and I don't know the model name, but it's a TVR smaller ride that runs a fantastic sounding Ford V6 under the hood (Wheelers Dealers did one years ago).....

Possibly the Tuscan? Can't argue with your first and third choices, but I'd substitute a Marcos LM 400 and possibly a Jenson FF (but I wouldn't want to pay its fuel bill!)

I had a Lotus 'bread van' back in 1970. It was mauve metallic, but I was 8 and it was a dinky!. Use to park it beside my split rear window yellow Corvette!

I miss all my British cars and wish I never sold them. 68 XKE ROADSTER, 69 TR6, 72 Lotus twin cam, 65 DB5, 00 XKR, 12 XKR-S. From a pure driving standpoint the Lotus was the most fun followed closely by my suspension modified and engine boosted TR6.

I'm an Englishman who adores both English and American cars and bikes (European stuff, not so much! ;-) ) For anyone curious, @ 1.05 although not mentioned, that car is a Land Rover 1/2 ton Air Portable (AKA Lightweight) and was designed as a military vehicle to meet the requirements of transporting a 4x4 with a helicopter. Because of the limited lifting capacity of the helicopters the RAF had the design meant virtually all the body panels were easily removed. It was a military only derivative of the Land Rover Series IIA / Series III, similar to the blue one in the background but with flat Series I style slab sided bodywork. A very cool car, as are all the others in the video, including the Europa which like many others, I had the Matchbox toy as a kid. In fact, there wasn't much in that show that I wouldn't want to own!

I had a Europa Twin Cam, Vegantune did an upgrade on my valves that prevented oil passing down them. The guy let me in to watch him work on my cylinder head. Such professionals. The cars are immense fun, handle like a go cart (except in the wet). 😅

I attended the Six Hours of Watkins Glen in 1970. There was a race prepared Europa in one of the lower classes racing. That bad boy was just as fast in the turns as the Porsche 917s. You could see the anger on the 917 driver's faces when he tucked in behind them through the turns.

I was surprised to hear that the Arnolt Bristol (Bolide) had a 3 liter engine. I always thought the Bristol 6 was 2 liters. Any comments ?
@TheChill001
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah they actually did make a few mistakes, the Arnolt Bristol did NOT have a 3 litre, but a 2 litre (1971cc) six in line. You are indeed correct to assume Bristol engines to be two litres, as only in some very few rare cases were there ever slightly larger varieties, but nothing even close to 3 litres.
