Love Radio is a Philippine broadcast FM radio network that is owned by Manila Broadcasting Company, though its licensee Cebu Broadcasting Company.
Love Radio's flagship station is DZMB-FM 90.7 in Manila, which is considered to be the first music radio station in the Philippine capital, having commenced operations on the AM band on 1 July 1946, and was then originally broadcast at 760 kHz. The station was assigned to Cebu Broadcasting Company, an associate to the Elizalde family which also owns MBC; DZMB-FM also served as the sister station of DZRH, and another established station DZPI (now operated as the Aliw Broadcasting Corporation-owned DWIZ) in 1949.
In September 1972, when then-Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. declared Martial Law, the dictatorship shut down and took over radio stations to silence public criticism and opposition by controlling information that people had access to. DZRH, DZMB, and DZPI, however, were allowed to resume broadcasting operations a few months later.
In 1975, MBC converted DZMB to the FM band, assigned at 90.7 MHz. The station maintained its music programming but it began airing as an easy listening-formatted station, which thus earned DZMB the on-air moniker known as "Beautiful Music". At this period, most notable personalities who worked on the station were Mel Tiangco (news anchor for ABS-CBN from 1986 to 1995, and then currently for GMA Network since 1996 up until to this day), Jay Sonza (talk show host, and goes on to become the station head of UNTV from 2004 to 2009), and Reysie Amado (now works for Radyo Inquirer 990 kHz).
By the time the 1980s came around, Manuelito "Manny" F. Luzon took over the management of the station, and reforming DZMB under its new identity: Love Radio 90.7. With this new strategy, Love Radio became one of the most-listened to stations in Manila.
Love Radio's original format is easy-listening or adult contemporary music, and it lasted for over the next two decades until 2000, when the station was reformatted to a contemporary 'masa', a format that was trending on the landscape of FM radio in the Philippines which was started by rival stations since the dawn of the new millennium. Over the next years, Love Radio 90.7 became a top-rated station after dethroning Yes FM 101.1 - which is MBC's other sister station - in the radio survey, the success would maintain its #1 position in the FM radio ratings for the next few years until 2017.
