This video is a rare pearl, Jeremy actually being serious and not goofing around, and also being so insightful and wise... I loved the part when he speaks about developing a relationship with a machine, it's something that people must understand before being able to understand what Jeremy or TG, or generally "petrol heads" are all about...

I can completely understand where EB is coming from. I had an XB hardtop 351 GS coupe and every day I regret letting it slip out of my grasp. If I was in Eric's position, with money as no object, it would still be sitting in my garage today, albeit in much better condition and form than when I left it. Kudos Eric. Big time. Love your beast!!!!!

Wow a man who speaks his mind and feelings with no fear . Puts it all out there for the hippies and tree huggers to scream and whine at and yet never falters while expressing a true love of machinery . A breath of fresh air in this over politically correct world . Kudos to Mr Clarkson .

Ive cruised it, showed it and raced it. I dont know if i could ever get rid of it. I mean even to the point where my 11 year old wants it when he turns 16 and i feel like...no like im cheating on it..lol. No one has ever, ever been behing the wheel but me. If you know their history, you know Clarkson and Bana have a lot of respect for one another. Sure, they might not agree on cars (and I totally disagree with Jeremy's plinthing idea), they still respect each other and have a kindred spirit via cars and motorsports. All that said, watch a couple Clarkson interviews and you'll realize he's actually an extremely intelligent, well-read individual. I hope to meet him one day.

It's the same reason I can't bring myself to get rid of my first car. Fortunately for me, my first car is a black 1978 Pontiac Firebird Formula L/E T-Top. A rather rare beauty if I do say so myself. Have had the car since I was 16, paid only $400.00 cash for it, rebuilt the motor twice, trans 3 times. And now it sits in my garage almost 16 years after I got her just waiting for me to get enough funding together and have a go once more. God I love that car.

Hi. Absolutely. But I was just trying to convey that I had one of these "Beasts", and that I loved everything about it. But unfortunately, since just starting a family, I could not possibly afford to continue driving it, and I had to let it go. Which I have regretted every day since. I still have dreams even now of driving that car! I miss it soooooo much! It was a beast too.

I'm 19. I had to give my first car to my older brother after he crashed his. It was a 1993 FWD Ford Escort. It wasn't the best car in the world but I took complete care of it and it was always spotlessly clean. A year after I gave it to him I went up to visit him and it was filled with trash, it was rusting, it had too much air in the brake lines and the master cylinder was done for and he hadn't bothered to get any of it fixed. He just didn't care. I have never wanted to beat the living hell o

I have a fiat 600 (very small, very old car) which was my first car, started rebuilding it and converting it into a sporty abarth 600, now it's just standing on the sidewalk in front of my house, with smashed roof and smashed hood, and unlike Eric, i don't have enough money to rebuild it at this time. But still I never think about selling it, I loved that car and it's a part of me, and the first chance I get, I will rebuild it. So I totally understand Eric's situation. He should rebuild his baby

Eric Bana apparently bought the car when he was 15, but didn't start driving it till he was 17. The documentary this interview was from, was from was released when he was 39, so technically he owned the car for 24 years at that point, not 25. I guess he just rounded it up.

Right now I have an old really beaten up scooter. Pretty much nothing works on it, and I practically got it for free. You probably wouldn't be able to ride it because there are so many tiny special things you have to do, just to make it out of the driveway. Yet I love it, cause I'm the one that took it in and fixed it. Sure, I might love my new KTM more, but it's not really the same.

Actually, his personality comes through here too. He IS the kind of guy who wants to do stupid shit and just have fun and wreck havoc. It's just that the guy he's talking to is so serious. I think the relationship you can have with your first car is akin to your first serious girlfriend. I had to get rid of my first car because it was so far gone, it would cost me so much money to repair it and I didn't have space to store it. I bought another one like it, kept parts from the old one.. I don't feel the same about the second car that I did the first, even though it's essentially the same car. It's not that I know it's not the same car - it's not the same feeling of love.

retiring a car, making it not ever drive again is the worst thing you can do to it. It's like keeping a paralized person on life support. A car wants to work, it wants to be driven. at least repair that car, make it road legal and drive it on the weekends.

The thing about Clarkson is that he has his own ideas about absolutely everything. And he would be afraid to stand in front of the world and say exactly what he means. Which, in essence, is what he's doing for a living. And one more thing, in order to stand in front of nearly 400 million people and ask an F1 world champion wether he has pubic hairs, you've gotta have pretty damn spacious ballsack...

How can anyone suggest plinthing a car that someone is so attached to emotionally? Especially it it's an XB Falcon? Sticking to Jezza's marriage-allegory, that would be like "mending" your wife, let the plastic surgeons loose on her, euthanise her and give the corpse to the taxidermist, so you can put her on display in your study. Either scrap the car or restore it. And after you restore it, *use* it. Cars are meant to be driven, to be out on the road..not to be sitting around in museums.
