Joni is one of the few artists in the world who is simultaneously world-famous, a complete genius and a regular person. I love her. She never ever ever sold out and always kept it real. And my God, what a lyricist.

I love Joni so much. Not only because of her artistic gift, but because of her observations and INTELLIGENCE. I truly suspect Ms. Mitchell is one of the most intelligent humans on the planet. What a wonderful gift was given to all of us when we received Joni.........

I drove a school bus for 15 years. Yhere is a small percentage of real trouble makers (about 10%) on each bus load. I learned to love the unlovable thoughall the turmoil. My mother read the famous love passage in 1 corinthians13 while tucking me in and sunk into my soul but I never lived it until I drove the bus for the public school. I know it better now. I don't think kids under stand this kind of love you have to grow up. This is my experience.

I noticed someone on said "the sixties are over and so is Joni". Guess what, this one video alone has 29,000 views. I have all her albums. She has 4 decades of music, and she freely admits she hated music. She used it as an emotional release. Musicians revere her. I found her 60's stuff to be brilliant, but I wasn't born. The 70's may be her pinnacle commercially, but her last album 2008 Shine" is classic Joni: dark, contemplative, gorgeous, and opinionated, and filled with surprise.

Wow. She may not know what love is per se, but she knew how to sing about it. What a great talent and human being. It is a shame more are not like her. But then that is why she is on this earth. To teach us with ears and hearts to hear, what love can be through her interpretations. We are stardust.....

Joni, like so many songwriters of the past 50 yrs, expresses the complexities of human life in just 3 or 4 mins. That you choose not to see the reality in her songs, questioning her motives, is understandable but it is also potentially a reflection of your own inability to accept writing as a simple need to express a simple emotion. Such writing allows people to respond to music of all sorts emotionally, seeing a little of themselves in the subject matter. Music is emotional. Thank you please.

Well said Joni who has always been true to herself...always keeping it real and never fearful of speaking what she feels. That's true freedom. No one is always right in life. If one thinks they are always right in this life there will be a rude awakening one day. Hats off to one of the most brilliant artists of our time here on Earth.

...against her. She's a fascinating woman. One of the most intelligent and aware artists. Dylan doesn't Have the guts to actually converse with anyone. Nothing has aged like his battered, withered voice! And you know that is true. I have worked to uncover Joni interviews because her music was a world unto itself. From the first chords of "Court & Spark" I felt like I entered another universe. She part mystic, highly intelligent, know how to tell a story. Now she paints. Your a shit head. :)

aNd throughout her career had written several songs that referenced this child always with a sense of sadness and loss. Her popular success was steady but I wouldn't think the first few albums gave her security. Plus she had to tour and find time to write. @thegrinchi7 HALLELUJAH, TAKE IT TO CHURCH. Misosogny is if he even had any knowledge of the stigma or these woman's actual realities.

Eros Love, sexual(or romantic Love) is the lowest form of love, and never used by The New Testament Writers to describes God's kind of love, Agape Love(sacrificial love), and Phileo love(brotherly and friendly love, used with the Apostles among themselves, and later on, with the coming of the Holy Spirit, The Apostles lived Agape Love out--1 corinthians 13 love, like Joni said!

Her song "Love" is Corinthians 13 set to music. Her comment on romantic love is more about her age. I can easily imagine a married person saying the same thing. She wrote "BSN" when she was 23. I would expect when I get to be that age, that Love in it's deeper more unconditional form would interest me more than romantic love. I can't get enough of Joni riffing an anything/everything. She has grown & let go of her youth. She & Dylan can work their thing out. He stayed in the game. Tired voiced!

@thegrinchl7 I can only be responsible for what I do, not for what she chooses to do. I don't smoke, but it's not up to me to dictate what others should do. I don't like second hand smoke either, but I don't think smokers are trying to hurt me with their extra smoke...lol...we are all free to choose for ourselves and that's the way it should be...and when you get to the point that you aren't bothered by whatever someone chooses, whatever it is, then you will be truly free...

Everyone, has the ability to cast stones. When they throw, it matters not, where the stone lands, as long as it causes pain. Then, one day, they recieve a knock on the head. Is it their God? Or some glancing blow from a stranger? "judge, Lest you be judged". No truism, has ever been written. xxxxx

@thegrinchl7 what an ignorant reply...judge if you want to...nobody is perfect...her music has helped me like no other...maybe she has made mistakes in your eyes, but those are your eyes...thank god she had a music career or I wouldn't have had her music in my life...it's a waste to judge how things turn out...maybe this is how it was to be perfectly...you can be negative if you want...but you never walked in her shoes...with this comment, what do you really know about love?
@chizmo7

I disagree. I think she has it right. As a child we see through pure eyes. Face to face. We are naive about the world, but not about God's love that he created. We are able to trust and love and believe with a pure heart. Jesus said come to me as a child does. As adults we see through a glass darkly. We are tainted by our sin. Typical Sunday morning Christian goes to church and then points his finger and judges others out of his own fear. Who the hell are you to say how God sees Joni?

@thegrinchl7 Lol...no...never been on any medications...but maybe you are since you brought it up. I am not taking up for her because she is a celebrity...and it has nothing to do with my being American. She did what she thought was best at the time...and if she wants to smoke, that's her business, not yours. Sounds like you are a very critical person and not very forgiving, I guess you have issues too...we all do...And yes...it is ALL about me...it is my life:)

kyentsezangmo: gee were you there? do you know someone who was? and then the obvious question what happened that on top of there judgements you harbor such anger to woman in your. And what's up with that sweeping statement that generation was given everything. You sound old and bitter. Joni had very good reason and if she cannot support this baby adoption make sense.
