My unit just switched away from brake bars and a separate prusik/pulley based lift system. We're now using the CMC Rescue MPD which looks to be a massive improvement - less gear to learn how to use, less weight in the rope bag, and no need to reconfigure the system to switch from lowering to raising.

You should look at the Petzl Maestro and/or CMC clutch. Game changer in the rescue world. Much easier to use then the MPD and cheaper.

Do you have any credible source for using a pull two method on a tensionless hitch? That does not seem safe to me at all.

Stumbled upon this video and heard the same thing. Negative. Wrap 3 pull 2 is for anchors used with webbing secured with a water knot and overhand safety knots. The anchor object should be at least 4 times the diameter of the rope and wrapped as many times as needed to create the friction necessary to prevent slippage. You should never pull two pieces of rope in a tensionless hitch and use as an anchor point, while it may work, it is not best practice. Then a figure 8 follow through should go around the rope so if it does slip, it will secure to the hitch. Good way to test the anchor is to load the system with firefighters pulling on the rope with more people/weight than the amount of rescuer(s) and victim(s) going on that rope.

Hi, I'm an Italian firefighter. sorry my english.I'm an alpine caving river rescuer. looking at your maneuver I saw that you are not using safety ropes. Is it a procedure or did you omit it just to show the maneuver? Thanks!

Curious as well. Though in true low angle situation the rigging is the safety line and shouldn't at any point be bearing the weight of the rescuer or one being saved.
