I appreciate you showing us owner operators this. My truck is doing exactly that right now.

I had the same issue 3 weeks ago And I only replaced the sensor, and it was all good for 3 weeks but the issue popped up again, so apparently there’s some magnets inside the reservoir that usually brake. So to save time and money I recommend replacing the reservoir when this happens, a new reservoir comes with the sensor already. A new reservoir was 500$ in Michigan and 1000$ in Nashville I hope this help.

I am getting ready to buy the paccar resivor as it has a float / magnet on the inside as well a new sensor. Has your problem disappeared still? Great video. ....thank you!

Yes, no more lights, it fixed the problem. To me my old coolant reservoir was in good non leaking, but maybe because of its old age, hard plastic must of expanded or something throwing my coolant sensor off.

Are there any specific reason to replace the coolant reservoir?
@truckerslife2338

At first, that was my thoughts, too. Cause my old one was just fine. But I think old age and all the heat must of expanded it, making it to throw off your sensor reading. I took a risk, and it fixed my problem, it was a nightmare.

Inside the tank there is a magnetic float that the sensor "watches". Over time it'll stick to the bottom of the tank.

Mines has been doing this for a couple months.. replaced the sensor twice that didn’t work. The shop told me it’s the ECM. Now I’m wondering if It could be fixed if I replace my reservoir like u did .

U took ur truck twice to the shop foe the same issue and still not fix... it simply means the Tech failed miserably to diagnose the root cause of it... id go back to them after the 1st time and have them redo their mistake... none of us shouldnt b paying foe their failed diagnostic cuz time is $$$... shops have the equipment... JUST DONT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE... Hope ur truck fixed after u do it urself...

Why did you do the reservoir for a coolant light? Seems it just holds the fluid...??

After 2 new sensors, I went online and did more research, and there was this one comment saying to replaced the coolant reservoir seems weird, But my old reservoir was also good, not leaking. But my thoughts was maybe when my water heats up my coolant reservoir must of expanded a little due to old age and triggering my low coolant sensor to come on, I didn't even know if it was right or wrong thing to do so I just took a risk to replaced it, took the chance. And it fixed the job, no more lights, took it over 10k miles already.

@@truckerslife2338 I found out that some reservoirs have the float built inside, instead of on the sensor.. And those you don't have to drain coolant because the float rides on the sensor install port.

I changed my sensor first no luck then I changed the pigtail leading to the reservoir no luck then I replaced my entire coolant reservoir and still no luck. This is crazy to me. Did your solution work?
