After a quick weekend trip to Georgia to meet our new nephew, conditions had deteriorated with a storm front approaching for our return trip home to Florida. After careful consideration of the true weather conditions, and our personal abilities and comfort zone, we elect to depart IFR from Cherokee County Regional Airport (KCNI), a non-towered airport. Despite nearly 500 hours of flight time, we've never departed IFR from a non-towered airport, so today's flight was something new for us. Contacting departure control on the telephone, from the airplane, turned out to be super simple and we had a great time attempting a new challenge. Enjoy the ride!
