@@UlfricStormcloak69 DOD are not ticking time bombs and this is not a DOD issue. Almost all newer vehicles have DOD or complete engine shut off when stopped , as fuel saving software/electronic features.
@MrGreenelight
3 ай бұрын
@@UlfricStormcloak69 DOD is a software/ CPU function not a mechanical, it just cuts off fuel to certain cylinders when not needed to save fuel. The ticking sound is mechanical and is Not related to the Cylinder Deactivation s. The sticking lifter is a fairly common problem with that style of engine that uses rocker arms and lifters rather than overhead cams. It is almost always due to trash / debris resisting movement of lifter. An oil change and /or engine flush usually takes care of it. This problem appears to just be a valve spring adjustment needed, from the wiggling and loose rocker shown at the end of video

@@JesusVillegas-pw4xq I found out that it was a seal going up to the oil pump that caused the issue. The lifters and everything else were fine. I replaced the oil pump and the oil pick up tube. Apparently there’s 2 o rings that press against each other (one on top of the pick up tube and one on the bottom of the oil pump) I thought to myself that can’t be right but after going to the dealer and asking their techs they confirmed this is how it goes. What was happening was some oil was leaking my and not getting pumped though the engine but was falling back into the pan. I use this lube called engine restorer by engine restore. I had an 85 s10 with a 2.8 v6 in it that I used this lube in. My oil filter came off after having my oil changed at Walmart. The truck had 250,000 miles at the time. After replacing the oil filter and oil on the side of the road with the help of Walmarts management of course. I started the truck and after some banging and rocking it smoothed out and I drove it home. and after another 250,000 later With a total of 500,000 miles I pulled the engine still running to put a 350v8 engine in its place...I could only figure that with regular oil changes along with the engine restorer lube is what saved the engine when the oil filter came off...

Can you recommend a good obd2 scsn to that will clear and reset codes such as on this vehicle? I've been looking and don't mind spending the $$ for a good unit. Im a diy guy, but often have uses for a high end scan tool.

Sure thing buddy.I use Autel that was my first Nice scanner and I enjoyed it very much so I trust that brand. I’m sending you 2 links The $130 I’m pretty sure it’s pretty good but not too much experience with that one the $470 was my first Nice Scanner and it took me a long way until it was stolen.

@@AlexTheCarDoctor awesome. Do they reset dtc's and sensor issues? I replaced a motor and have dtc's remaining from the old motor... I can clear some, but not all with my current scanner. I have a ni start situation because of it.

Yes and a lot more if you work on a lot of cars the 400$ is the one you want if its just for yourself then the 130$ will do you fine now if you just want to read and erase codes any 40$ code reader at your local part store will be good

@AlexTheCarDoctor

From my research just disabling is just a bandaid to a gun shot wound, you have to completely remove it that’s lifters new cam and plug the oil passages in the valley along with New valley Tray

@@AlexTheCarDoctor F IT'S REALLY HELPING TO CLOSE THE V4 OIL CHANNEL SO THAT IT DOESN'T WORK? IT'S JUST THAT A LOT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION WILL BE AS I UNDERSTOOD AND THAT'S IT

Stuck lifter...it can be due to low oil psi..the o ring at the oil pump shrunk and now sucks in air causing low oil psi Wich cause that lifter to get stuck cus that's how these AFM crap activate and deactivate. The o ring is like $2 but the job is allot bcus you need to take the oil pan of and you need new oil pan gasket..

It depends on if the Camshaft got damaged. If not, you just replace the lifters. But if the CAM did get damaged, then you’d need to replace CAM and lifters. See video here : kzitem.info/news/bejne/zG6nv46DiqRybG0

0W20 is a thinner oil than 5w30 you would think the thinner oil would cause less lubrication Should all GM 6.2 use the new 0W20 or stay with the 5W30 it came with
