And again, a great video. I had need to review it as I had to replace the switch and gauge at my folks' house. The 30 psi pressure tank was down to.... . 7 LBS! I aired it up to 28, replaced the clogged 20-40 switch with a new 30-50, and installed a new gauge, as the old one was clogged with crap too...working fine now... thx.

I just checked mine after installing new 4"x20" 222 us water systems filters. I have abit of tannins so I said fck it I'll try the disruptor filter, being a dual housing thats in the 2nd tub, the 1st tub I installed an insane.5 micron magna filter. It's the maximum filtering capability I can run with this setup. We have an old school very deep surface well so I expect Abit of tannins after heavy rains, but these 2 filters actually fckng work no bullsht However the pressure dropped rapidly, obviously the filter will clog faster than say a 5 or even a 20 micron but not a dam week lol checking the well x 20 gallon 202 tank it only had 7 psi unfckn believable man, I pumped the whore up to 14 psi just to see at first how things go, if alright I'll go up to the full 18psi We bought the house in late 18' and I did nothing to the existing system besides install the aforementioned twin 4"x20" 222 us water systems filter housing. After our son was born I have to protect him to my absolute best abilities which is why I finally tried the absolute best filters money can physically buy. Wasn't expecting them to actually work but I am happily surprised they work incredibly well. Only test left to see is just how long that way to tight .5 micron sediment filter actually lasts lol fck man when even bacteria cannot penetrate the "normal" pleated filter then that ole girls tight!

Thank you! Thank you! Been having problems with pressure in my house for years. Did not realize setting up that tank pressure was the first step before anything was turned on. That makes a world of difference. Looking forward to my electric bill going down and my well pump lasting longer now that it does not turn on and off so much. Thank you again!

Great video. All I can say is you just saved me some money. We bought our house last year and we were told that the water pump was most likely going to need to be replaced and was causing low water pressure. I followed everything you did and 1) pressure tank was at 12psi 2) cut on was 20 psi and the cut off was around 45psi. Followed everything you suggested and holy hell, everything works better! If I could buy you a beer or 12 I would. Thanks for the video.
@jasondadrummer

As a licensed well driller, you can also set your low side by letting the water out until you reach your 45psi cut in pressure, and shut your hose valve off. Then turn the cut in adjustment until it turns on. That will set your low side, and probably adjust your top side around 65psi. This will help you from having to wait to see what your cut in would be, and then repumping your well up to pressure again. Hope this helps.

I have two nuts , one smaller and the other larger for adjusting in and out , which is which ?
@jackb1803
3 жыл бұрын
@@Markc720 As I recall, the big nut controls the cut-in pressure setting and the small nut controls the differential and thereby the cut-off pressure. This differential is normally set to 20 psi, so if the cut-in is set to 30 psi, the cut-off will be 50 psi. Normally, there is no reason to adjust the differential. If the cut-in/cut-off pressure setting is acting wacky and you know no one has been messing with the controls, then the switch is probably bad and should be replaced.
@docbnj
9 жыл бұрын
If you are using Square D pressure switches such as 9013, you should know that the two adjustment nuts do not control high and low pressures respectively! The large one is the RANGE SWITCH: turning it moves high and low pressure settings up and down TOGETHER. The smaller nut changes the off pressure only. So ordinarily you only have to change the larger nut: clockwise to raise pressures, and CCW to lower pressures. See Square D Data Bulletin 9013DB0701, page 2.

Just from what I was taught, you want to keep your off/on pressure always a difference of 20 psi so you don't short cycle your pump. Which is why the tank gave you the settings as you mentioned 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60 being the highest for your tank. Also meaning not to exceed the 60 psi so you don't rupture the bladder. You do want to keep your tank pressure 2 psi lower than the pump cut in pressure. To check the tank pressure you have to shut the power off to the pump and drain the system as he shows in the video. Then you take your tank pressure reading. Pressure switch settings Tank pressure 20/40 = 18psi 30/50 = 28psi 40/60 = 38psi Not understanding how these systems work or what your well is able to produce and then changing settings for that set up can and will result in component(s) failure. There are many reasons why one can have low water pressure and as I was taught, you leave those settings alone if they are in the right specs and find out the real reason that's causing the low pressure and fix if able.

That’s actually how I had done it in all my houses in the last 35 years ( I call myself a Puerto Rican Jew! ). Nevertheless I always do my home work first by asking the right people & also doing some research on the subject before I decide to tackle it! So far so good & my wife love it because instead of calling the so called “ tech/ aka rep-off, I do the work myself & w/ the money that I saved not only I take her to dinner but on my rental property the wife & I did the inside renovations & saved plenty of money & took her on a 22 days vacation to Puerto Rico, a $6,000 dollar trip! Ps: Always do ur home work, research, buy books on the subject & remember, there is always KZitem ! Then again, if ur a book smart or a college graduate , Don’t even try it!

Pressure valve seem to not be working and switch would not stay on. With new switch and valve we have water. There is a lot of sediment. You increased your tank pressure to 58 psi? Cool, hopefully you adjusted the switch cut in cut out to 60-80 right? Expect more frequent starts and stops due to operating at higher pressures. How do you set the water height in the tank? I think you let the air out of the bladder, run the water in and check the level you desire and then reinflate the bladder to your desired psi so that you do not get air logged in your lines and shoot air out the faucets by the water level going too low? I got air in my lines after i set the tank.

I have a much larger tank than the one in your video, the well pressure gauge shows it sitting at 30 psi, the tank air pressure is at 26.5 psi. I turned the cut in multiple turns and nothing happens. Also I was getting some arcing across the contactor but once I tapped on it that stopped (this is in an outside pumphouse is the country so it was probably dirt) I get OK pressure for a few minutes and then it bleeds down to about 10 psi and stays there. As the pressure decreases the gauge flutters at about 20 psi and you can see the water pressure really decreases. It then just pumps at the 10 psi mark. The pipe from the well is 1 1/4 in pipe and it is necked down to 5/8 standard garden hose size. I can increase the connection pipe diameter to match what is coming from the well to increase volume but that will do nothing for the pressure. I am trying to fill a 600 gallon tank and right now it takes over 3 hrs. Should I just keep cranking down on the cut in or does the fact it pumps at 10 psi mean that is all the pump can produce? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have read that you can use a thermal camera to basically check if the bladder is leaking. You will see a temp differential if it is right and if there is a (respectable) leak then the temperature will be more equalized. I actually have a thermal camera but I didnt think of that to check my tank lol so if you got one try it out and see if it works.
