Love that you’re showing the pitfalls of “remove the rivets “. Never that easy. I have to let the neighbors know to keep the kids in so they’re not offended by my swearing! .🤪😂

Late to the party but I bought a TF a few weeks ago with a 6 week old MOT. Garage has condemned the subframes so I'm about to embark on a similar journey. These videos are a godsend. Thank you.

Your channel has inspired me to replace the water pump & cam belt on my TF. Looks like a pain to get access to everything & also to get the belt off! However, your video gives me hope. Thanks for your videos & keep up the great content

I very much enjoyed your video and admire your persistence in tackling those rivets. You're always going to struggle with a hand drill and anything less than an accurate vertical entry will likely snap a drill bit. Might have been easier if you had a pillar drill handy but you cracked on and got the job done.

Great video lee what i like about your content is that your not doing it in a big workshop with all the tools . Its nice to see it normally like then with drill bits snapping like when I'm working on my F. keep it up and keep going for the 1k .

Looking forward to your Upper Arm video!! This is a job I need to do on my TF, I’ve heard and read that the needle bearings can be a pain to remove so very interested to see how you do it 👍🏼 thanks for all these videos!! Keep it up!! After watching you the past few weeks, it’s inspiring me to remove the front subframe and overhaul it properly, now I can see exactly what’s involved! Thanks lee

Great video. A pillar drill would have helped with the drill bits snapping. I got a Comline wishbone on ebay for around £44

Another great video, Lee - thanks. I'd endorse the pillar drill suggestion: it's the inadvertent angular displacement of 'bare hands' drilling which risks snapping of the drill. (I've snapped too many myself!). Pillar drills prevent that. Additionally, as you go larger drill size, slow it down as far as possible.

Always buy quality Presto or Dormer jobber drills, as used in the engineering trade. Never buy complete shit ones branded Bosch or Black and Decker etc. Also as has been mentioned earlier, a bench mounted pillar drill will make life much easier for you; plus - smaller drill higher speed, larger drill slower speed.

Last time I did this job I ground the heads off then used Drift Punches - they have a flat face and are same diameter as the rivet, so put far more force into pushing them out.

Fantastic content - specially when things don't goto plan - no video editing to make it look easy . Like the logo , looks really cool . Look forward to next episode - let's see what you can snap lol

Didn't you get any grease with the bushes? Mine came with a sachet of white stuff. You will need to grease the metal tube in the middle. This is pinched in the subframe when bolted. The old rubber bushes relied on flexing, these poly ones have to pivot (hence the better ride over speed humps. The link goes up, not the whole front of the car). Your's look like budget ones. Quality ones have cross hatch grooves inside them for the grease to lay in.

Just get a new bottom arm. Saves a lot of pain. And broken drills. It's not like they cost a lot.
