I'm finding it hard to get the right balance as I also suffer chronically high cortisol and insulin plus have suffered heart attacks and now been told my cholesterol is too high at 7.2 and was advised I must start taking stations (I have declined). I have always eaten healthy and I'm a petite lady. I suffered blindness due to a mini stroke in the eyes and suffer migraines. What combination of healthy foods can I combine to help me get back on track😢😢😢. Would you be so kind as to address this from African foods please? The question Someone like me who is struggling with high cholesterol, looking at the results I shared with you a few days ago, will using Greek yogurt elevate my high blood lipid profile, sir? Hi Dr Joe, you talk a lot about how bad red meat is. Surely, there are a numerous benefits in eating organically raised grass-fed meat? I don't see you talking about this. Any views on this please?
@drjoetvMD
4 ай бұрын
There is always this issue of grass-fed red meat being okay but who goes to the supermarket and asks if the meat on the shelf was gotten from a 100% grass-fed cow? It's just not the practical thing that I see folks doing. I have been to farms where the cows are allowed outside to feed on grass but what I also see is the farmer supplementing the grass feed with other artificial feeds but they will give the impression the animal was grass-fed. Was it actually grass-fed 100% of the time? Nope. I would eat a deer meat for instance because I know it's been in the wild and ate vegetations only. So, yes, if you can find such meat with 100% guarantee it was grass-fed, go for it. Honesty is a rare thing these days and farmers are not immune to manipulating information. The worry is about the saturated fat content. The more vegetation the cow ate, the less the amount of saturated fat the meat will have and the less the concern is regarding cholesterol elevation. That's the guiding rule.

Eat calcium-rich foods, iron and vitamin C heavy foods. Worry less about these little things that are over-emphasized. Thank you for the info on LP a in the previous video. This test is not available on the NHS and is expensive. Is there any other parameters that I can look at in the cholesterol profile test that will provide similar knowledge informing me that I have a safe level of the lipids? APOb is talked about a lot as well. Is this the same as LPa? I gather that non HDL cholesterol is a good estimation of APOb, so can this be used for LPa as well?
@drjoetvMD
4 ай бұрын
ApoB is not the same as Lp(a). I would disagree £99 is really unaffordable for a test that will give you additional information on your cardiovascular risk profile. In the absence of that I usually tell folks to focus on 2 metrics - your LDL and your Triglycerides. If you peg those two lipid parameters down, you are on the right track...
