It was also clearly the biggest inspiration for Riverdale - I mean who else would insult someone else in a show with a lot of references to Mean girls / one of its inspirations Heathers with "Doorknob" - if it wasn't for LPS Popular there might not've been a Riverdale and Netflix might've not gotten at popular for teens and maybe Streaming might not be this big nowadays - it's all due to SophieGTV, she's the savior of this world so don't abuse Crickets

I used to watch this series all the time when i was a kid. Last thing i heard, she suffered a back injury from a car crash and couldn't work on lps popular. She made small skits about Tom (as an actor) going missing instead because they were mostly just editing and were easier on her back. She mentioned that she was still going to keep making lps popular but that was years ago at this point. I wouldn't blame her for stopping to pursue a career in something else, she was in her late teens-early 20's when the accident happened, so it makes sense. I just hope she's living a happy and successful life.

From what I've been hearing, Sophie had suffered a car crash and is healing from it(please take this with a grain of salt because I don't know if it's true or not). And that she's working on LPS Popular behind the scenes while working on her new channel. Though like I said, I have no idea if this is actually true or not. I used to like LPS Popular, I wasn't to to big on it because I was obsessed with Far Fetched, Creepy, and Gone. But I'll give all the credit to Sophie, if it wasn't for her the LPStube wouldn't have been how it is now! And I respect that even though I have stopped liking it over the years. And I will be there when a new episode does come out since I'm still interested in how it'll end. I still make LPS videos on another channel and they're a lot better than when I made videos back in 2016. But I still have a lot to learn even after takin a break to do art videos on this channel.

LPS Popular is truly a memory from when time first became real (early 2010s, close enough), and I cannot believe the test at the end nearly tripped me up! Thinking back, I never remembered the serious topics, and this series had such a threshold on me. It was THE LPSTube series, in my opinion. GoGreenGirl, LPSHannah, LPSskittles, and others were marvelous creators, but LPS Popular is just something you cannot beat. The attention to detail, lore, and drama are absolutely incomparable. Truthfully, what a way to make people's childhoods. (For anyone wanting to rewatch some series/videos they may have seen 10+ years ago, I recommend the "nostalgic LPS videos from my childhood." It had multiple videos in it that I remember loving). I've thought about what children are watching today and the world we had with series such as LPS Popular, and I believe it shows how the world moves on. How captivation changes as generations do as well. I don't imagine I would find what interests today's children as fascinating as them if I were their age, but that is because I enjoyed things such as this series. Unrelated, but a thought I find interesting. I loved the video and what it reminded me of. Keep up the great work!

I am curious about French LPStube, I think it's so cool that there are so many communities within the larger umbrella. You shouldn't take Sophie not emailing you back personally btw!! I'm sure that if she saw it and ignored it it was just the fact you are one of thousands of people who had emailed her about the series, children, teens and adults alike have surely emailed her about what happens in the end of Popular and when is it going to come back and would she like to do an interview or even just thanking her for making the series- not just fans of the series but people who see Sophie as the person who changed not just LPS tube but toy skits in general. Another thing you didn't mention at all in the video was Sophie's car accident. I was not allowed unlimited internet access as a child so I don't know all the details but Sophie got into a life altering car accident which made staring at a computer screen difficult. Brain damage can affect people for a very long time and it's likely she still suffers from this.

I may be missing some info here because this is entirely new lore to me coming into this video but regarding the hierarchy question, I get the impression that the difference between the main cast lps and the lps pets (the crickets) is the type of animal classification they fall into? It seems to me as though generally the mammalian lps take the place of what would be humans in our society and the different species (dogs/cats/bunnies/pigs etc) are akin to different cultures in our society? They are different but still of the same animal classification therefore they interact in the same way? Whereas insects are an entirely different animal classification and that’s what puts them into the ‘pet’ category? This could also explain the steak thing since they may still eat other animals but only ones from different animal classifications (birds, fish, reptiles etc?)

your points about shattered nostalgia and nostalgia-based content are really interesting! I wonder if the reason we don't process a lot of the things that our adult brains recognise as messed up is simply because we are too young to actually put it into context. recently I rewatched my favourite show from when I was about 4 years old and I was shocked at just how much violence was shown, there was even on screen character death and my baby brain remembered none of it, not to mention all the much heavier topics that were brought up in the story like kidnappings and child slavery. it's possible that ED in lps popular just never registered for us as something that should be much more worrying because when watching this series, most of the viewers were tweens and younger and we weren't aware of the severity of the situation. not to mention how EDs and a lot of other similar topics such as SH were treated as something pathetic or something to mock the characters over in media up until very recently. it also makes me wonder if this nostalgiabait is such a huge phenomenon because millennials are the first generation that was surrounded by So Much Stuff since childhood, which made it easier to move from one thing to another. there's a new movie or tv show every other day and if we want entertainment, we can grab a new piece of media at any time - and this has been the case since childhood. our parents and the people before them had limited access to media of all sorts and often ended up revisiting the same pieces over and over, so while there is a certain amount of nostalgia tied to said piece of media, there is no 'shocking' reveal that what they grew up with was actually Oh So Messed Up. they knew it all along, if only because they've experienced it repeatedly and their brain was able to remember even the heavy topics as they grew older, so these older generations are much less likely to experience shattered nostalgia oh well, I apologise for rambling, I hope this was at least somewhat cohesive thank you so much for this video and the breakdown of what made this series what it is!
@stateofmoregon
4 ай бұрын
Thank you for this comment, you've made a lot of interesting points! I've been thinking a lot about the generational divide in how we approach nostalgia in media, and I think there definitely is something to the amount of media that we now have out there. I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)

When I was little me and my best freind loved lps popular, we would play lps together and watch it together. We grew apart when we got older, and especially because I was neurodivergent and she was neurotypical it became hard. To be honest it’s ironic we liked lps popular so much as kids, but we sort of ended up being like Brooke and savvy. Except we don’t get any awesome remakes with Yuri in it, it just remains as it is and we move on. I don’t talk to her anymore, but I still like lps. I recently bought one old terrier lps that I played with when I was little. I still have my old collection but that terrier I never owned, it was hers and I would use it every time I went to her house. To be honest looking back at it she was always bad to me but I remember her and our playdates fondly I wish she wasn’t a Brooke, but it’s better for me to not be around her than it is to remain with someone toxic
