Hey bro I think you’re doing a great job! I must say it’s very painful to see you rotate that crank and it has a lot of resistance. I believe u have missed one step the whack the front and rear of the crank to loosen the crank so that it can spin freely. (Like the sbc) correct me if I’m wrong.

Do you have to have a parts list for the build? I’m building something similar, LQ4 block and I was hoping to use a 58x reluctor wheel as well. How are you doing the cam gear, sensor and knock sensors?

What machine work did you do to the used block to accept the new parts well? What all was balanced together (did you include balancer/flywheel)? Great video. Thanks.

Hey man thank you for sharing this video with us it's very entertaining :) - my question is about your compression ratio and how it's making 620 without the nitro - I assume you're using aftermarket forged pistons right ? I hope to build a 408 under boost for 850 - thank you :)

How much was the machine shop bill? I'm in the process of freshening my 403" LS. The motor has less than 15k miles on it, so i'm hoping that since the block has been decked, line honed, bored and squared, race prepped, that there won't be much machine work! No major issues, i'm more doing mine due to rocker arm breakage! My oil pressure started bouncing erratically under acceleration and from there I parked it! Hopefully it won't be bad, but i'm hoping to put more than 15k miles on the next build! Looking to go low 10's N/A, no bottle! We will soon see! Thanks!
@NooBGarage

For all the work was $450. As you can see the block was pretty nasty. What are you putting your ls in?

Currently working on 408 build myself. What were your clearances on your mains, if you don't mind me asking? I've read comments from some forums that state .002 to .0025 is the sweet spot. However, GM on factory build is anywhere between .0008 to .002.. My numbers are .0015 except the thrust brg, which is coming in @ .001 (a little tight). Crank spins by hand once in.
@NooBGarage
4 жыл бұрын
Mine are at closer to .0015 and she spins by hand real nice. Its up and running now and oil pressure is at about 40psi at idle and about 50psi under load.

Hi Joey, thanks for the excellent videos. Inassume you ised the stroker kit from Summit. So my question is: do i have to modify the lq4 block for clearance or is it a straight bolt in? I understand that the bores and stuff differs but any other mods that you didnt mention in the vids? Also, what can one expect onthe dyno for that setup without nitrous?
@NooBGarage
7 жыл бұрын
Hey bud you are most welcome for the videos. Glad you enjoy them. The block will have to be modified a bit to accept the stroker set. Its not much and you could do it with a dremel tool. I had the machine shop do mine when they did the rest of the machine work. Also its this setup without nitrous we are expecting around 620hp! If you send me your email I will send you some pictures of where the block has to me modified a bit.
@pieternaude3000
7 жыл бұрын
Wow, 620 is alot. Ive read some posts online where people only got to around 500 so thought it wouldnt be worth it but for 600+, its a different story. It seems the biggest issue they have is the intake, exhaust and injectors. What do you have for injectors? That intake you have is the secret I think. They breathe really well. Also, many people said the 243 heads are way too small. Whats your opinion of this? I will likely run a smaller cam than you. Thinking around 235/240. Thank you so much for being prepared to send me the pics. That will help alot. It's these small things people dont tell you about. If I buy the kit, do i still have to get it balanced? My mail is pieter.naude@gmail.com thanks again.
@NooBGarage

Yeah the machine shop I took my block to is called Turnkey Performance in Oceanside CA. They specialize in LS builds. Sand rails, street and strip cars, baja trucks. You name it. Anyway, they have a few motors there with my setup with no electric water pump and the stock LS3 intake putting out 620hp all day. Really impressive. I am running the stock LS3 injectors. They should flow enough for now lol. If your plan is to stroke it I would think the 243's would be a little small. The kit I bought had to be balanced. Im sure there are some kits that are balanced already but mine wasn't. I will send those pictures asap!
