Because of the heavy rain last night we're doing a bit of a road trip today - heading west out of Alexandra up the gorge to Cromwell - then north up Lake Dunstan as far as Bendigo were we were 4 days ago - and back through the Dunstan Range via Thompsons Gorge Road.
Thompsons Gorge is an ancient path that Māori used to travel from the east coast to the west as the Gorge between Cromwell and Clyde was too steep and dangerous to traverse.
