So you have an LS engine? Well congratulations, but we don't care.
Just kidding, we care....just mainly about the type of BRACKET and/or FEAD(Front End Accessory Drive) kit you're using. There's many out there from stock, aftermarket, complete kits that includ an alternator to home fab jobs that are 100% custom with special obstacles to overcome.
The main things we want our customers to consider when choosing an upgraded alternator for their project is that not all "LS engines" use the same alternator. They do share a ton of parts within the family but when you introduce variables into the equation we need some data from YOU to make sure YOU get what YOU need.
Besides the bracket type you're using, we also like to request:
1. Crank pulley diameter / rib count
2. Engine idle RPM's
3. Max RPM's(redline)
4. Vehicle usage(drag, drift, show, street, race, etc.)
5. Physical obstructions around the alternator(valve cover/cyl. head, turbo piping, frame, roll cage, etc.)
6. Prominent amperage draw equipment range(fans, pumps, audio, electronics, etc.)
7. What type of battery are you running
8. Where is your battery located in the vehicle
Do it right, do it once and be done with it.
Having all this data on hand will make your phone call or email to Tony@Mechman.com much, MUCH quicker and easier for both of us.
Негізгі бет LS everything! But not everything is LS. (mind blown!)
