Short answer yes it's a lemon. 2nd answer from experience as a tech for over 40 years is they have incompetent techs working on the tractor. There is no excuse for this problem to go on for a year. 3rd answer it is a wiring problem or the ECM itself. Intermittent failures are often ECM related or a bad connection in the wiring harness. Danny you have the patience of Job!! Take care and I hope you get it fixed soon or they replace it..

I also have a XR3135 and like you I really like the tractor and it does everything I need it to when it is running.I had the dealer I bought the tractor from go under shortly after I purchased the tractor. When I needed it worked on by the dealer, I had to go north about 75 miles 1way because the dealer in Petersburg will not work on a tractor they didn't sell. Seems like they should work on any tractor, especially if it is still under warranty because they are supposed to be a legitimate dealer. The second time, I was told it had the same problem. By this time I had owned the tractor about 3 years and out of those 4 years it had been broken at least 1 of those years while trying to find someone to work on it and being in the shop. The dealer in Fredericksburg finally took it in to be worked on, and this time, they kept my tractor for a while and did several things to it like they didn't know what to do to fix it so they were trying everything. I got the tractor back and it ran about a month before dieing yet again. By this time the dealer in Fredericksburg had stopped being a dealer and I would have to take it to another state. I am so frustrated at this point I just put the tractor issue to the side and had to take a break from it. At this point, because of inability to find someone to work on it to figuring out how to get it to them to just sitting at the dealers my warranty was up. A new dealer opened 30 or so miles away from me and I had a tractor that was over 5 years old that had less than 100 hours on it because it wouldn't run long enough to cut the grass. I contacted the dealer and set it up to bring it in to be looked at. After seveal months in the shop I get a call that the wiring harness was bad and so was the injection pump. When someone was testing the wiring harness had messed up the plug for the pump. The tractor also had water and dirt in the fuel which I didn't understand because other than being at the dealer I was the only one to fuel it other than the dealer in Fredericksburg. I bought 2 new 5 gallon diesel cans when I got the tractor because I didnt own anything that ran on diesel. As a matter of fact to this day I have both cans and they are clean inside and out. The crude in the fuel had ruined the pump so since so much time had passed trying to get it fixed it was no longer on warranty. After about a $4000 dollar repair bill which would have been more had the dealer not repaired the wiring harness I got my tractor back. The tractor has run like it was supposed to until last week. The suspect is the turbocharger but I can't take it to be looked at because my dealer is a1man show and is on a well deserved vacation. Bottom line is the Tractor is a good machine that has design issues. Don't let anyone work on your equipment unless you are sure they don't just have the jobbut also has the education to back it up. Having a good reputable dealer is very, very important. Use the tractor as much and hard within reason while it is still under warranty. I could have easily bougt a different color tractor for what I will have in this tractor after this next repair

It's not the emissions and computers - it's the "we need to sell parts and service" mentality manufacturers have now. Back in the day, you made a tractors that would entice a customer to buy another later, because the tractor made its keep, the customer would buy another. Failed obsolesense is the business strategy now, with transmissions made of crap steel or worse, bucket, front end, suspension, you name it - made, or engineered really, to fail early. I remember looking at craigslist for a couple of months and seeing all these cheap tractors, with blown trannies, and realizing it's the current game, and dont buy one, make them change their game, or go out of business.

Thank you Danny for informing us about this tractor. Sorry y'all are going through this. Maybe if other people would have got the word out about all the problems with these tractors it would have saved y'all a lot of trouble. Just my personal opinion, but all the modern day computers & technology just doesn't mix well with the dust and dirt that you get with farming. I think the older ways & equipment just works better, or at least it's more reliable. We have an old 8N tractor, yes it need a good over haul at the moment. But the older tractors take a beating and keep on going. I could not imagine trying to put up hay with all the dust and grime that comes with it with a computerized piece of equipment. We live in the middle of a 5 mile stretch of gravel road and it reeks havoc with our auto mobiles and they're computers. Paul & I can't wait to see y'all next week.

There is nothing more frustrating than having a job to do (with your tractor), and a malfunction continually interrupts your work schedule, particularly when you have done your due diligence in maintenance. If this were an automobile the lemon laws would have required a manufacturer's buyback after they picked it up the third time - and you certainly shouldn't be on the hook for the transportation expense. I look forward to how this plays out, and hopefully the dealer and manufacturer will do right by you.

One thing I learned the hard way that even when dealing with a major manufacturer it is absolutely necessary to document everything and I mean everything! Never walk out of a dealer repair shop without a very detailed invoice of work done. I had a major auto manufacturer tell me that the warranty wouldn't cover a problem because it had only been reported once. The vehicle had actually been in no less than 6 times and I was told each time it was fixed or there wasn't a problem. My vehicle was in the shop for 23 days for a single issue and that was the 3 rd time for that issue.

This customer relation/ product reliability situation certainly requires intervention by the manufacturer to help the dealer make things right for the customer. Period. It would appear the F002 - P0402 OBD error code is related to something around the EGR control valve , solenoid or like being stuck open or a defective sensor reading . This data should be readable using a dealer diagnostic tool. We don’t know what the dealer technician has discovered using this process so it’s best not to comment. Keep an open mind folks, tier 4 Diesel exhaust emissions didn’t introduce EGR. It has been used on gasoline passenger car engines since the 1970s. Regarding the regen process, the following video does a good job of explaining the process and the does and don’ts on another brand of tractor. It’s worth viewing. Keep in mind these off road diesel emission limits are established in many countries around the world. Sometime take an opportunity to visually look at air quality in congested traffic areas when there is an air temperature inversion, , you can clearly see the pollution. Many times I have seen the strangest error code and vehicle ECM issues resolved by the most basic electrical repair on farm machinery. Every electrical ground wire must be clean, bright and tight. Never depend upon a bolt to complete the ground until the paint is cleaned. Electronic sensors work on very low voltages and any unwanted resistance caused by a ground problem will trigger the strangest issues. kzitem.info/news/bejne/zoqpraqqhX6maKQ

I have a larger Kioti that had regeneration troubles, reduced power from a slowly plugging up diesel particulate filter, and limp-home issues (as did the entire industry). The field/fleet solution was and is to install a thermostat that allows the engine to warm up more before opening. As a tech, I knew this and installed a warmer T-stat wherein the tractor started working perfectly. Kioti then voided my warranty.

I just bought an LS tractor a month ago and done my homework on who and where they are made,Ls new holland branson kioti and there are others all made by LS because LS is the parent company .and they are all made in south korea LS and new holland are the same tractor the label on back of tractor says made by LS in south korea ,L have been to a bunch of dealers and they all say the same thing ,so good luck finding a tractor made in the USA,everything under 80hp is made overseas..danny i am sorry for the trouble you have had and hope you get results soon ,just saw your post ,sounds like you are a patient man.I would have lost my cool a whole lot sooner good luck..

Ok- the service techs and manager should have never told you keep running it.. maybe they aren’t trained on final tier 4 engines.. not sure.. but what everyone needs to realize is when it won’t regen it needs to be addressed immediately. Don’t keep running it. I work for a JD dealer and this kind of thing happens to us too. A good service manager will appreciate your patience, a good service tech won’t give up. These problems aren’t easy to solve in some cases. If that are taking care of all this under warranty great! If not well that seems like a big issue.. emissions warranties are usually separate from a tractor basic warranty.. just do your homework on that and find out. I wouldn’t tell anyone to keep or get rid of something they like hell my first couple years of marriage were a pain in the ass but in the end I’m glad she kept me.

CASE or Ford New Holland. Never heard of that LS brand. I wish you all the luck with getting it right. They play a main part in a lot of farmers / gardeners lives.

You've been so patient with that Company. I'd've blown my top way before now and demanded a replacement or a refund! It's been too long now and you'll need small (I know it's a BIG issue) but small claims court in the USA because of your 'Sue-ing' culture probably covers the cost of a Tractor, to get your money back. Thankfully you'll have paperwork to show that despite all they said they did, it didn't fix it & all the downtime those trips ate out of your warranty period. I hate that you're going to need a lawyer to get your money back but I think you will need one. I've been with you through every day since the day you got it, and you were both so excited to have the extra help, bearing in mind this is supposed to do the 'heavy lifting' that you & Wanda will need help with in the next 10 years or so, if it's unreliable since Day 1 you've got NO hope when you're in your 80's. You wouldn't have had this much trouble in a second-Hand 30 year old John Deere or Massey-Ferguson!! Danny get rid!!
