This was my freshman year in Tiger Band - was in the Alto Sax section. We did, in fact, record this in the Union Theater. The entire band was standing in seats and aisles facing the stage. This was our "travel show" that year. I think we must've performed it 4 or 5 times (twice at home, Auburn, bowl game, and maybe once more). We had some hoss brass players in every section! Great memories!

This was most likely recorded using the full band either in the LSU Union Theater or in the IFF (Indoor Football Facility) ... When I marched in 98, we did the entire season highlights CD at the Theater. When I went to Tiger Day in in 95 or so, the band stood around one microphone at the IFF and recorded that show's songs for the CD.

This came up in my suggested after I found a performance of 2020 LSU Tiger band performing this on the practice field. Such a contrast. This would have been my freshman year of college, but I did not attend LSU. I think the Covid "muffles" distorted the sound greatly in the 2020 performance opposed to this one.

@@mhill781 The bell covers? As a tuba player of 30 years and K-12 assistant band director that dealt with covid and band, I can confidently say they really don't affect sound in any perceivable way. If I recall (I'd have to go watch it again to confirm), it's a completely different arrangement than this one. I'm a little partial to this one myself, we used it in our 2019 half-time show at the school I'm ABD at.

The microphones used for this (in the LSU Union Theater) could've also been better quality than what you'd find in your typical cell phone as well. A smaller frequency range could explain sounding muffled.

@@kenbenobi I think it may have been drone footage looped in with on field recording.

I don't believe they were marching when they did this. Infact, I am sure this was done as a recording session, complete with editing, dubbing, etc.
