Craig L. Byrd of Cultural Attaché talks to bass-baritone opera singer Luca Pisaroni who is making his house debut at @laopera in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville." It will also be his role debut as music teacher Don Basilio in the opera.
In this interview he discusses the idea of there being no small roles for a performer, the role of one particular music teacher in his life and he discusses the concept of slander and rumor (the themes of his major aria La Calunnia E'Un Venticello) as it applies to our modern world.
