My late father, who was very colourful in his bespoke invective, described Luciano as a bull, who enters your inner core, and kicks shit around. LOL 😂

Just a thought about music in general. I understood not a word of this song (years ago or now), yet it brought me to tears. The best tenor ever. This and "Ave Maria" are my Pavarotti favorites! Thank you Don! Your reaction was priceless!!

I just love Pavarotti's face at the end. I translate it as his, "Yeah . . . . . . I just did that" face. Haha. Could listen to this all day every day. Great thoughts from you on this aswel.

@J Feeney Ha!! Great interpretation of his facial expression at the end! The dude could do anything with his voice and melt everyone within a mile of him singing. Glad you enjoyed it, especially since the channel is a country music reaction channel and I wanted to mix it up a little.

@@RockN2Country I think he is so deep in to the role of the intended, Pavarotti conveys an expression of almost fear in the final seconds, as he has given everything for his princess, and after the final calls of "I will win" he understands that perhaps he didn't win.

Time travelling with Don...... Classic Country to the completely opposite spectrum of Opera. I thank you for the context though as my Italian is a bit rusty!!

Nessun Dorma: is an aria that starts the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot. It is sung by Calaf the unknown prince, and he is alone in a moonlit palace garden, and begins the aria. Nessun Dorma is also reprised toward the end of the opera. I highly recommend you listen to Dame Josephine Barstow (DBE), who performs as Princess Turandot in composer Alfano's original ending of the opera, after Maestro Puccini had died prior to finishing the score. It is very powerful, dramatic, and culminates into a brilliant Finale, that differs from the usual ending that one would hear.

What a surprise Don --- never expected to hear this on your channel! Very interesting. Sometimes the local opera company will sing contemporary music, and of course being Calgary they will do country. It's very unusual and very entertaining --- these guys can really sing. I've only seen a few operas, I did like them, but it hasn't stuck as something I want to do often. Great idea though Don, thanks!

There certainly no questioning their singing ability. There is a pretty cool video on YT of Luciano singing "It's a Man's World" w/ James Brown.

Actually the riddle comes in the act before the aria. He answers them correctly. So she must marry him to which she protests to her father. However Calaf says if you find out my before sunrise he will leave me not return. She sends a degree out to find his name. None shall sleep until his name is revealed. They end up together and have a huge love duet after all this. Try to see the entire opera one day

@@RockN2Country If your contention is true then The Pope and a career criminal should be held with the same esteem, correct? Or maybe the world doesn't understand that Putin is doing the world a favor? What structure within the music are you referring to that gives credence to your notion? Please be specific, thank you.
