Excellent video! I loved the way the interviewer brought lots of humor into the discussion. About 20 years ago I looked up Andrew's phone number and called him to ask him a few things about dream yoga because I was just so struck with something I heard him describe that I had experienced and never heard anyone else describe before. I felt a little awkward calling him out of the blue but he was gracious about it and we had a good conversation. I remember very specifically him speculating on whether I could become a Dream Yogi without formal initiation into the Tibetan tradition. At first he thought probably not, but after talking a bit he said that maybe I actually could do it. It was very inspiring and motivating to me. Gave me the impression that it would take a lot of work but that it was possible. I really appreciated that.

That is correct! face the nightmare and it will stop first then it will go over your conscience( this time with your permission and acknowledgement) and the body can feel it, sometimes. All these things are happening within the dream. Since then, I haven't had a nightmare for a long time...Great conversation!

I walk in the countryside with my dogs every morning. As I walk I try to stay in the present. I look at what is around me without thinking. I just observe. I look at the trees, the hills etc, without thinking, oh what beauty etc. I just observe. When thoughts do arise in my mind..mind chatter..taking me out of the present, I blink them away. I just blink my eyes and the thoughts are gone, and I am back in the now. The quiet mind. In bed at night I lie on my back, legs and arms apart..and look into the darkness, at the same time, I do my deep breathing exercise. If thought try to arise, I again blink them away. In that way I am in a, none thinking, state of awareness. In the present moment. If I am washing dishes etc..I do the same..in the present. I do this with any simple daily task. I observe what I am doing without thought.

I have not had a real nightmare since a lucid dream in my mid 20’s. I am now in my late 40’s. I do, on very rare occasions have what you would consider a nightmare if I described the events of the dream to you, but they are never accompanied by any feelings of fear. I actually enjoy them.

Great interview. Love listening to Andrew Holecek. Personal opinion, dream signs are overrated for getting lucid. I can't think of the last time I saw something weird during my waking life. That said, my dreams are filled with dream signs, but none of them are present in my daily life: old jobs, ex-wives, ex-girlfriends, etc..

My theory about sleep not dreaming is a bit more basic. The body requires ATP to survive. Every cell in the body requires ATP for energy especially muscle cells and brain cells. Our body consumes ATP that changes to ADP at an enormous rate. There comes a point where the body needs to stop using muscle, brain activity and other ATP draining functions to replenish ATP.This we call sleep where the muscle function goes into paralysis and brain/ nerve function goes into low function mode.During this period ATP replenishes for the following day. This is why if we loose sleep we are tired and can’t concentrate.

I'm not sure what your talking about, basically my take is is to become a mindless zombie ,not letting any input or sensation be real to you is this what your saying , now something I lived by I can't change events but I can control how I react to them to improve my overall happiness in my day to day life , bohemian Rhapsody comes to mind and nothing else matters ? Is that what your putting out there

If you were losing your mind and having anxiety over lucidity, I suggest that he should try looking at books, playing video games, or watching TV and build a world based on those with a few unrealistic logic here and there. Reality and lucidity would feel much more different.

bad idea in the long run. Although it would provide what you are claiming, the same concept that you are suggesting would be more positive for you if you did other earthly things like mundane family and friends or helping homeless people. Books are a good idea, but tv and video games are not.

dream yoga in the end trains you for dremless sleep but if we want to practice lucid dreaming we want to have dreams..Here Im a little confoused..cos I practice bouth and no one for now didnt give me an answer for that..I know that budist beagin with lucid dreaming and go further with dream yoga or yoga Nidra wich means eventualy no more dreams just more expanded awereness in deeper aspects! So how can I combine the two? I dont want to stop dreaming but love the practice of dream yoga..if someone have some advice I will be very glad😊..tnx..namaste

To lucid dream I learned at 14 old in a playboy magazine! Clench all ur muscles for at least ain and slowly cour backwards 60 to 0 now I never make it to 0 I'm out and program ur dream before this and you will be in deep sleep fairly quick and love that dream I even landed in a falling episode and felt my bed sink in 2ft when I landed just to see if you have a heart attack I have no fear of death I should say first ,now noy bed move just felt like it it was waking and sleep at the same time

Tried to listen to Andrew's teachings, but he references a lot the tibetan 'Rinpoches' who have been found guilty of decades of abuse of women and living very non dharma lifestyles. Most of their senior western students also enabled their behavior. I hope american dharma has not become just a male left brain intellectual exercise of selling books and courses, what is dharma if not integrated?
