Maybe don't trust anger and preconceived notions. Embrace forgiveness, compassion and kindness. I like the music and the lyrics even if I don't agree with them.

My preconceived notions - the ones I was taught from youth - were that the police existed to protect it's citizens. I've grown up, done research and learned that they in fact exist to oppress us. The anger came from the opinion, not the other way around. I'd appreciate if you didn't infantalise me by implying I haven't taken the time to look into this subject when you have no way of knowing that. I have done a lot of research into racial discrimination and police brutality, from a plurality of sources and from that I've concluded what I have. Regardless, thanks for the kind words on the singing, and thank you for taking the time to listen to opposing views.

@@RoryIsland Yeah but how do we know what we researched wasn't biased towards an agenda? How do I know if I am indoctrinated or not? Being so sure of yourself, you must know. How does anger help the cause? I personally try to cultivate compassion and understanding for the police even though I often end up getting angry at them for being such corporate conformists.

@@uilium Every source has an agenda, that's why i use a plurality of sources instead of just one. I may be wrong, but I have seen a mountain of evidence that I'm not and virtually none that I am, despite often going out of my way to look for it. The police were formed from the very start to recapture slaves and break unions, and the functions have stayed the same since; to re-enforce racist structures and to protect capital. I don't think anger and compassion are mutually exclusive. I can be angry at cops for enforcing the structures they do and also understand the societal influences that put them there. I will be compassionate to individuals, but I won't be compassionate towards a group I see as inherently immoral and harmful. I would also say that anger can be a good motivator, and when that motivation is directed correctly it can be very powerful and useful. Sure, it can be misdirected, that's why I've been careful to understand the issues I care a lot about.

In 2019, 60 cops were killed on the job (ignoring roadside accidents... were the VAST majority of police die while giving bullshit tickets to poor and working people.) Yet, police killed 1,004 people. from 2015 - 2019 364 cops were killed (again, no roadside accidents.) In that same time frame cops killed 5,222 people. Cops kill around 25 dogs a day. Black people are 3x more likely to be murdered by police. 1.3 times to be killed when unarmed (still, owning guns isn't a crime in America. It's a thing you can do... legally.) 8 of the 100 largest City PDs kill black men at a higher rate than the US murder rate. There is NO correlation between violent crime rates and police killings. In 2019, there were only 27 days the cops didn't kill someone. In '94 congress instructed the AG to compile and publish annual stats on police use of excessive force. This has never been carried out. Not even the FBI collects this data. There is NO national database that exists to track their murders. But there are several independent organizations and oversight crowdsourced groups. If these different groups didn't keep up with the data religiously, we wouldn't even know how bad it is because police aren't required to report their killings. Many, in fact, do not. Fuck the police. My compassion is for the poor they criminalize. My compassion is for the working class they harass and brutalize. I don't have a damn bit of compassion for a fucking cop. They ain't on our side, friend.
