@@mjm5081 Hey there. I've been playing drums for 30 years and counting. In that time I've acquired a lot of knowledge and a little wisdom. Lol. I've come to know what I like, and don't like. What i can let slide, and not let slide. I've accumulated a whole list of petpeves. What is your experience with music, and what are your likes and dislikes?

I noticed you don't have the ride cymbal mounted on the bass which was the way Ludwig Drum company presented the set. I had a catalog with Joe Morello playing the kit. Yes those were the drums to own.

These days, the 20/13/16 Ludwig kit is known as a "Super Beat". 20/12/14 is "Downbeat" ONLY if it uses the 14x4 Downbeat snare drum. You're playing a Super Beat kit.

Don't know if this kit classifies as the classic Downbeat, as the classic downbeat configuration is 12-14-20... This would be a mix of Super Classic and Downbeat sizes, and can therefore be technically called a "Super Beat" , which i think would be more appropriate ;) Nevertheless, great video, great sound, great drums, and great playing ! Keep it up guys !!
@DeanMk1
7 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. It's not 20-12-14, but more specifically, it doesn't have the 14x4 "Downbeat" snare drum. If anything, it would be considered a "Superbeat".
@rhythmista7707
6 жыл бұрын
DeanMk1-- The "downbeat" snare drum is only called that because of the series of kit, which consisted of a 12-14-20 configuration. What your stating would be like calling any other Ludwig series the Supraphonic, simply because that most other Ludwig kits came with that snare. The classic Downbeat configuration will always be associated with those 3 drum sizes, regardless of whether it comes with the original snare drum or not..But you are correct, this set up would be considered a "Super Beat".

Super Classic = 3 ply. Classic =5 ply

@@brianchisnell1548 That distinction was used later...maybe 1990s. Supper Classic referred to the 22,13, 16 set-up in the 1960s. Shells until 1968 were 3-ply, mahogany/poplar/mahogany.

@localboy4584

Yes there is. I can't see it but it could either be the "baseball bat" muffler because the adjustment rod resembles a baseball bat or just a round adjustment knob depending on what year they were produced.
