Dallas won the title in 2011 because they did three things VERY well. 1. They played great team defense and got stops when they really needed it. A starting lineup with Kidd, Stevenson, Matrix, and Chandler can’t help but be good defensively. 2. Carlisle and Kidd had a chokehold on the pace and momentum. Every time the opposition even thought about going on a run, Carlisle would call a timeout immediately in order to get someone a good shot. It was brilliant, really. It also killed the crowd hype on the road. 3. Prime Dirk and Jet closed games. Dirk led everybody in fourth quarter scoring in the 2011 playoffs. Jet hit big shot after big shot. This mavs team is very similar, but Kidd worries me a little bit. But overall, anyone who watched in 2011 and is watching now has the feeling that something big is brewing in Dallas. The mavs have a long way to go, but they are peaking right now.
@corey2232

Dallas actually had the top ranked defense since the trade deadline. And Luka's been better than just above average, he's been excellent. The issue with his shooting seems to be that knee injury. He has no lift on his shots, and after half time, he's not runningthe floor, moving without the ball, backing down defenders, cutting inside, etc. as much, and instead settling for contested 3's. Hopefully he can heal up a bit before this next series, as it'd be a shame to see Kyrie's best play in ages not matched by a healthy Luka.

Choke time for many so called franchise players. I'm thinking that play offs are really about seeing what teams eat it big on wasted money.

It goes to show that one thing FOOTBALL PLAYERS DON'T KNOW A DAMMMMN THING ABOUT BASKETBALL n most media analyst that NEVER PLAYED BASKETBALL at any level you shouldn't believe anything they say, mostly everything that comes out of their mouth is being what they hear in their ear from someone else who does know shit about hoops

Luka missing 3s bc of his knee. When his legs hurt his shooting goes south from deep and he duly compensates by going to the mid range step back

Franz Wagner shot more free throws than entire Cavs team last night Orlando +16 at the line Cavs 23 fouls Magic 15 fouls Had that been in favor of the lakers y’all’ would’ve been crying on this page. The lakers aren’t involved so none cares 😂

Cause one game does not make a difference. Over the last 2 years the Lakers shot 1100+ more FT then the opponents (reg Season and PO combined). Thats a bigger FT surplus then the next 3 teams combined! And before you say it... no, thats not cause they attack more. They are middle of the pack in drives and paint shots over that timespan. Without the refs the Lakers wouldnt even make the PO!

@@Smido83 embiid shot more free throws than entire Knicks in game 3. He has been getting Bs calls for years. Most ppl didn’t care. One game? The Orlando magic led the league in free attempts per game. One game? The Mavs shot 20 more free throws than the clippers in game 1. One game? Game 6 bucks vs Pacers Pacers 26 fouls 17 free throw attempts Bucks 18 fouls 32 free throws One game? Ppl were crying about game 1 in the Denver LA series. Then all of those folks put their head in the sand in games 2 3 AND 4 when Denver had fewer fouls and shot more free throws than LA. These same folks came out of the woodworks to complain about game 5 after ignoring the previous THREE games. One game? Denver was 29th in the league in free throw attempts for the SEASON. One game? The laker have led the league in free throw attempts per game 3 times in the last 19 seasons. NBA officiating is shady across the board but so many casual fans (including the folks who run this page) only care when it favors the lakers. Real fans care about it league wide when BS happens. Refs manipulating games has been out of control for years.

@@peda15 Yes... those are all ONE GAME by different teams... what is your point? Did any team average 10 more FT then opponent teams over an entire month? The Lakers had several of them!

@@Smido83 you did not read what I wrote at all. I brought up multiple games in the Lakers and nuggets series. I brought up seasons worth of data for the Lakers and the magic and you glaze over all of that.

@@peda15 Orlando averaged 2.2 more FT then their opponents... the Lakers averaged 6.2 more. By far the biggest average in the entire NBA. And the Nuggets (specially Jokic) normally never get the calls they deserve. Btw, the Lakers shot 94 FT in the series, the Nuggets 79. And both teams comitted basically the same ammount of fouls (83 Nuggets, 82 Lakers) So stop the cap. All you do is gaslighting and noone is buying it! No other team was favored by the refs as much as the Lakers over the last 2 years. Its not even close. So back under your rock, noone is buying your bull**it.

the international/euros play the way the game should be played. They drill fundamentals and all the basketball basics overseas which is showing immensely where the American system has turned into launching 3s, Iso heavy ball, and all this drive and kick basketball with no direction or intent. Its showing who runs the league now and its saving not only the nba but basketball.

Luka and Kyrie are great together, almost everyone was wrong. Harden is simply an older, larger version of Jalen Brunson. Both are ball dominate which often stagnates the offense, and neither can lead their team to a title at this point. I get that Luka is also ball dominant but he is an amazing passer and solid rebounder who does so much more than Harden

i agree , even luka agrees that he is tired of letting kye down , (im sure he means letting kye carry the team offensively ) but everyone has weaker stretch of the games .. im gonna guess luka will be back in this play offs yet . also game 4 luka played whole 4th with 5 fouls and clippers took adv of it . and his def score this play offs gotta be 70+

Luka and Kyrie did their thang. Dallas on the ball offense was awesome. Clippers all was trying to do their thang . You go as PG go and no was setting screens or anything for him to get off. I kept wondering when its going to happen and never did. I don't know why the teammates didn't see it. Very good team.

Offense wins you games but Defense will win you Chips When Kyrie starts playing on-ball defense he becomes a deadly 50 40 90 2-way player. This is rubbing off on Luka in all the right ways defensively... Luka is the face of the Mavs and the one who controls the flow of the game while Kyrie is the Champion and veteran leader on that roster. With my Lakers gone fishing, I am now rooting for the Mavs in these playoffs 🖤🤍💙

People have to understand when u trade for a star like kyrie it depletes ur roster. Him and luka really did not need time to learn how to play together they just needed better role players and as soon as they got Gadford and PJ they clicked instantly. Same with Phoenix this year if they can somehow improve thier roster and keep thier big 3, next year they will be dangerous.

I was one to criticize Kyrie because of everything that happened a couple years back but I'm glad he's playing well. Good for him. As a matter of fact, a Doncic-Kyrie vs Jokic-Murray West Finals would be epic. Would have Gilbert Arenas fuming to see his favorite players Jokic and Doncic Ballin 😂
