I hear so few songs about dad's. We are raising 7 grandchildren. Our daughter passed. When I heard this song, I saw my husband through a child's eyes. Thank you, Luke. My oldest granddaughter loves your music. You have touched so many people.

My grandfather passed last year due to kidney failure. He’s a Vietnam vet, was on dialysis since 2012 (11 years), was a man of few words and only spoke when he needed to or when he wanted to throw some dry humor into the conversation. He made the decision to quit dialysis after over a decade of suffering, and told me he loved me for the only time I can remember the day before (about 10 hours) he passed away. He always showed his love, but never said it but I’m so thankful he did the day prior. I used to watch westerns with him after work and this song is beyond perfect… thank you

I don’t comment on videos, but this makes me think of my papas. One randomly came into my life as a little girl, and accepted me and my brothers the way we where; when him and my grandma broke up and I watched him move out it broke my heart.. he kept in contact through the years even telling my grandma he still loved her and wanted her to come back, he would call and text us kids to tell us he missed and loved us and wanted to hear our voices. He passed almost 4 years ago. My boi papa passed 2 years ago. I didn’t get to meet him in person but the calls where everything growing up. Just to hear him and my grandma sing happy birthday every year, just talking to him just because he missed our voices. Sitting in that church looking at his ashes broke my heart. You may think it’s annoying now but answer that call and cherish it. You’ll miss their voice one day and want it all back

They forced my dad to retire at 65 from Ben Arnold. He was mad about it, and after they made him retire, he went to crap. 4 back surgeries and a neck surgery, eye and leg surgeries. He just turned 74, and even with all that, he stays working around his house. He loves westerns and chopping wood with an axe.. They don't make men like that anymore. Same with your pops. They were cut from a different cloth. I've had a back surgery myself and was the worst pain I'd ever had, and Daddy walked a mile the next day after his. I could barely stand up
