Kelly: I can't thank you enough for that vid. You know there are certain things in life that inspire and some that don't. That is the song for me. It just gives me a certain inner strength that I can't fully describe. Best regards, Dan Reilly

Arschlahm: the singers here seem to be Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew. First, there is a bit with both singing - with some back up, I think. Then Kelly (it must be him) sings a verse ("where girls are goodlooking..."), then Ronnie Drew sings one. Once you know that, it should be easy to hear who sings what.

Welcome back Kelly, good to hear the click of your keys again. Since Daragh pulled down all his Dub vids I have a real need for Luke's final Night Visiting Song. If you have it I would greatly appreciate it. Again, welcome back, ringterlit aka Daniel Sean Reilly

Luke Kelly; tenor 2 Ronny Drew; bass 1 Based on choir experience, correct me if I`m wrong.

That's right. Ronnie had a Baritone o bass voice, he can easly reach low notes. Also he had this brilliant color on his voice wich makes it very particular. In the song "holy ground" (the 1964 version), he sang probably at the top of his vocal range to make some nice vocal armony with Luke's tenor voice, and his own part. Both voices are amazing and they complement each other with that special contrast.

@@andresoicataduncan632 I think that was an answer to a question of mine that strangely disappeared. At 0:54 it sounds like Luke is starting the verse but then Ronnie is taking over. Now more understanding of audio I think the microphone was just clipping.

@@born2sail but this is "bonus track" of a 1968 Compilation Album, so it suppoused to be a studio version, that's my doubt about that 00:57 part

Amazing song, and amazingly performed. But could somebody please help me with the text on a couple of places? At 0:56, after "we'll show 'em the good life", there's something followed by "loaded with nothing to lose" which I didn't get. And from 1:08, is the sentence "they'll scream to be with us, they'll scheme to be with us, they'll give us a good run", or am I wrong (English is not my first language)? And at 0:38, is it "Delly"? Is that a place? Help would be appreciated.

nothing like a song about drunken fornication to bring a smile to my face... R.I.P. Luke, Ronnie, Ciaran... they must be up there chasing women and singing in the celestial pub while holding that jar of porter high above their heads, if i had to take a guess I'd say they're singing "I'm a Rover"
