Hello friends, Lukla Airport, also known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport, is a small domestic airport located in the town of Lukla in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is one of the most famous and World's most dangerous airport due to its unique location and the surrounding mountainous terrain. Due to its challenging conditions and limited infrastructure, Lukla Airport has gained notoriety among aviation enthusiasts and adventure seekers. It serves as a crucial transportation hub for those embarking on journeys to the Everest region, offering stunning views of the Himalayan mountains during takeoff and landing. Lukla Airport is situated at an elevation of approximately 9,380 feet (2,860 meters) in the Himalayas. The airport is the gateway to the Everest region and is used by trekkers and climbers heading to Mount Everest and other nearby peaks.
The airport has a single, short runway that is only about 1,729 feet (527 meters) long. It is a sloped runway with a significant uphill gradient of approximately 12%.
The airport is named after Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary, the first individuals to successfully reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953.
