After the successful display of the Luna Mesh transmission in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava, CoDeTech is bringing yet another showcase, this time in a rural area, on the river Danube.
What is very special about this particular area is the fact that even the most basic regular connection types are sometimes not operational here. There is unstable reception for most mobile phone operators, which often warrants the failure of sending even a simple SMS text.
In this experiment, two long-range antennas have been implemented, one ranging up to 1.77 km in distance, and the other one 1.88 km, with several wifi access points enabled, with six peers present spread out across an area of 2.54 km in distance, at three distinct points, forming a triangle.
A new type of antenna has been implemented to further amplify the reach of the Luna Mesh network. Instead of a directional simple antenna, we are now using the so-called Moxon, a semi-direct one. No additional type of equipment has been used.
Our technical engineer Eugene also stresses the importance of the equipment’s affordability and the fact that it’s a “one-hop” connection, which means that it requires no intermediary connector to function.
Watch the stream of a meeting on the Ting platform with 6 peers across a distance of 2.54 km connected solely via the Luna Mesh network - yet another success for the team!
