LUNAR NEW YEAR AFTERNOON TEA AT FAIRMONT HOTEL VANCOUVER
The salon at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver's Notch8 Restaurant has been transformed into a beautiful, Lunar New Year setting inspired by the Year of the Dragon.
The Lunar New Year afternoon tea experience begins with a selection of LOT 35 Tea and specialty teas for the occasion, along with sweet and savoury bites to follow.
I started off with the Lucky Dragon Hyson which is a bright and fresh green tea.
I really liked the Char Siu Pork Belly sandwich with apple and pork floss.
The Duck Confit with scallion pancake and apricot “duck sauce” was a delicious, unique item.
There was also the Shrimp + Egg Tart with napa and mala chili oil.
One of my favs was the Curry Puff with chickpea keema.
There was also Turnip Cake elevated with some salmon roe.
As for sweets, there was a lovely Dragon Ball Cream with oolong pastry cream and an Opera Cake with matcha and red bean paste.
One of the tiers contained a Black Sesame Macaron, Fruit Tart, and Pandan Swiss Roll.
I always enjoy the Fairmont scones and for Lunar New Year they have an Almond Cookie Scone.
I really enjoyed the immersive experience from the creative and beautifully presented set items to the vibrant atmosphere of the setting.
The Lunar New Year Afternoon Tea at Notch8 is available Wednesday through Sunday until February 25 with three daily seatings available.
