I was a student of Snyder's at UC Davis and he got through to me and so many others! I was present during this reading and that statement, above, surprised me. His writing, his delivery, his intent....all delivered clearly. Helped formulate my writing, my art, and my thoughts about the environment, the "place in space," and humanity.

Boy, what resonance! The transcendent, sober, clear illumination of what is! How amazing life is, what's happening is, when the drugged, veiled fog of "me" and my projections is absent. The nesting Laysan Albatrosses are AMAZING. They mate for life. The male can routinely fly 2000 miles for fish and brings it back to his nesting mate.

Great and necessary poetry. Integrity, real love to the planet and a beautiful human being example. Excellent talkings. I would ask to Berkeley people to add please subtitles in spanish or portuguese. So we - the other iberoamerican cultures, can apreciate and understand better. Thank you all, hugs from Brasil. A better world is possible.

Unfortunately, now Midway Island is a repository for debris from the Great Pacific Floating Plastic Island. I saw a birder’s photo of a perfect Laysan Albatross skeleton shape of ingested plastic. This kid came up with an inexpensive solution that could eliminate this island quickly, but there’s been no obvious news of what’s happening with this.

As odd as this may seem, I believe he is the Gary Snyder who replaced my 6th grade English teacher for a while.

Great reading by Gary Snyder, but who brings a baby to a poetry reading? They should have told that person to leave with the baby. Snyder's eye contact at 41:08 is priceless. Clearly he is not amused.

28105wsking I imagine you must love poetry, too my love! Intellectual compatibility? This poetry is so accessible despite the fact it is modern poetry, as so often I find modern poetry obscure! You must be and feel 'Very Proud'!!! With Best Wishes!!! Cheers - Mike
