Hi, I think these ids are fantastic. I have a 5 month beardie half cross that I am training. Everything has gone great, really pleased. One thing I have noticed though is that she is not always retrieving straight to hand like she used to. Picks up the dummy well, excited, comes back but then as she approaches me she moves to my side an goes by me. Not always but seems to be more often . Is this normal puppy inconsistencies that practice will see right. She is fine elsewhere, very obedient. thanks

When you're training recall with a feisty lurcher, hows best to respond to being ignored? I have the issue when there are minor distractions

@@christga100 yeah, this is true. I shouldn't really be comparing. She's an 11 month old Bedlington whippet (specifically 1/2 working Bedlington, 7/16th whippet and 1/16 collie). She's loads better now after some long line training. Only problem now is she knows when she's on a long line 🤣 Funny story - I met one of Perdys relatives at a pub in horbury over summer! We got chatting about our dogs and I mentioned these videos... He knew all about them, and to my surprise the dog with him was a relative or Perdy.

@@christga100 interesting to know! Mines got a lovely nature, loves playing with other dogs, but equally loves playing around with me and checking back in. However, she is easily spooked, if someone approaches in a park at night she'll run up to them barking. Not ideal at times. Also if someone comes in the house who she doesn't know she spooks and goes mental barking at them. She had her first pheasant on the tops in december which was nice to see. I got it off her and it was in decent condition so I let it go to fight another day 😝 Also, the brother to my bitch is owned by my friend, he's had a load of squirrels and rabbits already. A tenacious thing

@@christga100 haha, they certainly are lap dogs 🤣 cute as hell until they see a squirrel - then you are the fire. I'm not quite sure how to get her more comfortable around strangers. I try not to correct her when she spooks, just remain neutral... Hopefully she'll chill out - she'll be 1 years old in a week or so, so still young

Good dogs mate, can be head strong tho, beddys will work with you, more than for you, But for me i'd go beddyxgrey just for the height, unless your running small field/ paddocks, but you can always go for beddy/whippet/greyhound!

josh there is no need to be smart as he said he is only starting out no one is a expert on everything until they learn my opinion starting off a collie cross is what you want there very easy to train because there very clever and eager to please

Do you ever work with older Lurchers as have an ex rescue Lurcher who's recall is very poor

you've got to find something the dogs wants, like a tit bit of food and bribe the dog with it to come back
