Scary to think this would happen in a country that once prided itself on "acceptance". Thank you very much for the reminder< Mr. Kelly and staff. Indeed, it is better to prepare our defense than be caught off guard. I quiver at the thought of Jesus saying "Depart from me". GOD bless you all and may we all remember to build each other up!

If I remember that how I use my sight is a virtue that God has given me. If I can't present what I see to God then it is probably not holy and should not be presented to God and as my body and mind is a temple before the Lord, those things that take me away from God should be removed from my life.

We are sore in need!! I rarely hear anybody speak about custody of the eyes . . SO important for children, married men, and, well, everybody. I don't subscribe to Netflix and got rid of every movie channel many years ago. If my goal is heaven, I certainly don't want to peek into hell. So sad that viewing the illicit, immoral and diabolic - even for children - is so widely accepted. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart Matthew. 🙏❤

@@vickiedirksen1775 Yes, happy to. "Jesus, Lover of chastity, Mary, Mother most pure, and Saint Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to you I come at this hour, begging you to plead with God for me. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity. Obtain for me, then, a deep sense of modesty which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christlike purity. And when the "Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me" in my heart at Holy Communion, seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures. Heart of Jesus, Fount of all purity, have mercy on us." I don't remember where I found this, or who the author is, but it's such a beautiful prayer that is so needed.

I wish that more people would get directed to these positive videos, rather than so much negative things being posted on Christian channels. Even better, I’ll only watch what I wouldn’t mind my parents coming into the room and seeing as well. Same with The Secret Circle and The Vampire Diaries.

Something I have been struggling with the last few months……waking up in the morning with evil forebodings, feelings of angst, fear, etc. I have worked hard over the last few years to “let go and let God” and once I get up out of bed I start praying and feeling better, knowing God will help me make it a great day for myself and those I encounter. But where are those negative feelings coming from? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my husband is retired as of January 1st and now spends more time than ever reading “bad & sad news” and watching crime and emergency dramas. When I get into bed next to him, I feel the need to turn away because I feel an uncomfortable nervous vibration in my body, like maybe my positive energy is being sucked into his, to counteract all the bad vibes he picked up throughout the day, leaving me depleted of positive energy. This has got me puzzled, wondering if anyone experiences anything like this, or if my theory is right.
@inspired_learning4657
2 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to read that you are experiencing this, however, you are certainly not alone. Bad news abounds and when our loved ones are impacted, I think we are too because we care for them and feel for them. My alarm in the mornings is the song New Every Morning by Audrey Assad. It is a good reminder that our loving God pours out all these new graces upon us every day. Sounds like you are already tapping into that by finding comfort in prayer. Praise God for that! As well, when I feel anxious or fearful and there is no immediate threat, it helps me to remember that fear is from the devil, not of God. It has also been on my mind of late to consider that others set their gaze on me, therefore, it is of great importance for me to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that I myself can reflect the things of God back to them (especially to my family). In this way, I can participate in God's healing ministry as I go about my daily activities, often without even using words. May Our Lady's mantle cover you. I will offer a Hail Mary for you now.

Try to Pray before you even get out of bed. Ask for the Peace of Christ in your heart and mind. Ask God to keep you in today, not worry about tomorrow or regret yesterday. Start your day with the Rosary. It is very calming. I try to stay away from all news in the morning and just stay in prayer and meditation. It is hard if your husband has the news on. Talk to him about it and maybe set a time for the tv news to be on later in the day. He may not realize how much it bothers you.

I am becoming wiser and more aware to these urges that really don't make me feel well at all afterwards. Great reflection - even in terms of purchasing items for hobbies and such. How much is too much? We see and say "I HAVE to have it" not stopping to discern if it truly is a need or a want, yet knowing if I didn't SEE it (FB post, You Tube tutorial or emails from the crafty companies I follow) I wouldn't even know the item existed. It's the seeing that starts this chain. Interesting to reflect on this in light of Christ's teaching.

Matthew, thank you for having the courage to accurately reflect the challenge to Christianity we face in America today. I never imagined as a child that we would ever come to such a place. Some pretend that "everything will be fine" but it will not be fine if we do not stand up for our beliefs while we still have the chance. Truly an inspirational message and teaching today.

What bothers me is how some people seem to acknowledge Jesus in the name of things that Jesus would probably really not stand for. For example, people who invoked Jesus as they stormed the capitol building last January. Or perhaps there are those who remain racist while claiming to be Christian. We need to acknowledge Jesus while trying to be truly faithful to his teachings and example. Lots of discerning is necessary.

I have been appalled by the way a lot of people dress for years, even when going to church. It is sad that most priests never talk about this. I like to read and it is surprising how many authors will state that their book is clean when it clearly is not. This reflection reminds me that we all have to be careful in what we read or watch. I haven't been to a movie in years because most have a lot of swearing and are not wholesome at all. I like how you explained this.
