The train was very heavily embroidered and long. It was designed to match the majesty of the occasion and location. It was obviously very heavy, so it needed to be carried at least part of the time. When the bride was proceeding down the aisle it was not carried and it looked stunning. Someone who was in the Cathedral choir loft posted on Twitter that it sparkled like moonlight when seen from above.

Wow. Sorry, I like Kate and think she was a lovely bride. But this Stephanie was the most gorgeous Royal bride since Grace Kelly. Her gown, her veil, her train everything was INSANELY gorgeous. Her aristocratic pedigree(you should see the family castle!) her superior education...just about everything about her puts her in a league far above and beyond Kate Middleton. The Kate/William wedding was beautiful. but there was an old school grandeur about this Luxembourg wedding that made it stand out!

23SummerMoon All true because this was the real thing. Oldest genuine aristocracy with families who are up to the standard,m well educated and aware of who they are and what their role in life is: to care for their people. They have remained true to their origin and religion, not some wishy-washy we-want-our-own-religion-because-it-suits-us. They value what they have and love the people. They don't try and pretend to be "normal" like the Brits and much of the rest. Because they are not, that's where life has put them and they take on the challenge. You can see it in their faces, both controlled but still happy and sad, but in control. They are absolutely lovely and render a couple whom we may rely on. And Stéphanie is beautiful and her dress the most beautiful I have ever seen.

irishfromengland Was mostly done in French…with a bit of English and just to mention it…the 'Luxembourgish' language is more French than German. It is a Francophone language. I think it was a lovely ceremony, especially given the death of the bride's mother. I think she held it together well.
@sebsch2259
10 жыл бұрын
sarmadasco what are you talking about? luxembourgish belongs to the high german languages, luxemburgish is a frankish language like loads of other german dialects. frankish has nothing to do with french (nor is it francophone) only that the frankish (germanique) people founded france and gave them their name. hundred years ago the luxemburgers called their language simply "german".
@sarmadasco
10 жыл бұрын
Seb Sch Ok. The mass, though, was a mix of German, French and Latin. Whether High or Low German, the difference is not vast and if you go to, per se, Switzerland…their German, 'Swiss German'' is very different than the German spoke in Germany, which is full of dialects, like in Italy, Spain, etc. where from town to town, the dialect, (not like English where we have different accents and different colloquialisms in how to say certain words, from the US and Canada to S. Africa and NZ and Australia…we understand each other 95% of the time…but in Europe, amongst the Romance languages or Germanic languages…the differences are vast, even in their conjugations. I mean, living in Italy, which I do, leaves me often feeling I don't understand the language at all. going from my town, to, let's say, Rome or Napoli or Palermo…where the dialects are so different from each other. In Belgium, too…there is Dutch, French, Flemish..and a mix of all 3, which is, not so different from LX in that they have taken their German, French and even Latin influences and have their own dialect, of sorts. I know that when one says 'Frankish', they are referring to a people, not a language. That word, though, 'Franco' is a tough one for if one says they are a 'Francophile', it means a fan of the French people and culture…or a 'Francophone', meaning French is either the primary or secondary language. Can be confusing. When I am in Luxembourg (cheap flights out of LX to the USA…so I train it there and fly out of there), everything is in 3 languages…German, French and English (though English has nothing to do with the languages spoken in LX…just is a common language internationally, which French was 50 years ago and Spanish is becoming to be)…and the French and German, officially used in LX are the pure versions of the languages..not the dialects. If in Darmstadt and you have to speak to someone is Salzburg or Vienna….it is so very different..not just the dialect..but the actual languages. I ramble. I appreciate your correcting me or educating me…I do! Truly. It is a good thing, if someone feels that one is erring..to correct them…politely. Don't know why my comment seemed to anger you or left you flabbergasted…so I am sorry for that..but I do appreciate your assisting me in my education of this issue with languages and such, in LX…a lovely Duchy…and part of Benelux…. where the people are remarkable kind, empathetic, etc…but unfortunately because of their placement in Europe, has constantly been under siege, throughout the centuries and been invaded by one group or another…as it, like Malta, as an example, is situated in a perfect place for defensive reasons. It is also a beautiful place and peaceful and calm…and above all, open minded and progressive. Very hard to find all these things all rolled into one. Sure is not that way in Italy….this I can promise you. Anyway, thanks, again….and I really do appreciating learning more than what i THINK i know…which is not always correct. Peace Out! ~ Gary

We didn't watch the same wedding. They kissed about a hundred times on the balcony, unlike the stiff duck-lipped little kiss Will gave Kate. And I doubt if Kate would have looked "radiant" if her mom had dropped dead 8 weeks before the wedding, like Stephanie's did. Stephanie is a class act and handled herself brilliantly under the circumstances!

Homosexual Prince 'weds' aristocratic bride, just because his family is Catholic, conservative and fixed on power. How sad... He must be learn from example of Mr. Xavier Bettel, who is 'Ms. le maire de Luxembourg' and proud openly gay. I think, Mr. Bettel much more better represent values and reality of liberal Luxembourg than all 'royal family' together.
