Yes I agree, but in my opinion they also created music that was so different at the time of mainstream, if you remember what music was like then most of the artists followed each other’s lead and music sounded to much of the same, The smiths introduced a new style of music and the singing was so amazing that Morrissey’s voice was indeed like an instrument, I appreciated the fact that they were also so honest about how they felt about politics and commercial music. In my opinion they are one of the greatest bands and impossible for any other musician to duplicate.

Well, only Marr can play The Smiths 'type' music. I think it was Morrissey's way of writing lyrics that was the major paradigm in their songs. His dark humour and wit is blatantly lost on those without the antenna to 'pick up' on it. His intelligent, informed yearning is also what made Smiths fans 'disciples'. They were completely and utterly unique

My partners friend back in the day. Family home just around the corner from us. Partner took a walk there when andy passed and said no flowers etc had been left outside. Maybe new people live there. Partners going to see if he can arrange for a blue plaque to be put on the house's frontage. Rip andy.

I spotted the French Kiss microphone, then I see that Syd is the uploader. That made me really happy. I found this because of the late great Andy, but there is something nice and reassuring about when artists you like put focus on other artists you like. Like this one. What a sweet encounter. RIP Andy, and thanks for making indie bass players step up their game forever. And thank you Lyla and Syd.

Makes sense why I’ve fallen in love with the Smiths so much later in life.....the stones and The Who were/are my favorite bands, and both Marr and Rourke have given much needed credit to Pete Townshend and Bill Wyman (here) respectively. Andy Rourke is one of the most criminally underrated bass players in history.

Andy Rourke loved the longevity of Rolling Stones. Can you imagine if The Smiths had never broken up and had that same longevity? How wonderful would that be? The world as we know it would be a different place for the better had that happened. In many ways.
